But, hey, I was always crazy...and it doesn't help me.;-)
Do it often.
It is NOT exercise.
You could also go the curry route..but you will really stink as you sweat.
Does chasing my tail count?
:-)
I’m not sure I want to live too long but I have a horror of dementia. So far, I’m living my New Year’s resolution of daily exercise. 115 days gone, 2,003 miles on my bike at about 166 hours. Now if I can only keep this up through the Florida summer swelter!
6+ mile power walk every other day.
Also gets me out of the house which may be the real reason for longevity ;-)
I think I may need to pick up the pace a bit.
I ran yesterday but I can`t remember where I went.
Exercise is awesome for the mind and body. Running, well, I loved it for a few years. Absolutely. But,..... The cartilage in my right knee is worn down enough for bone-on-bone contact so my running days are over.
I used to tell everyone that I would run until I couldn’t run any more. That time has come.
I dont dexercise at all and Im not demented, and neither are the flying lobster people who are floating around near the ceiling....
There is truth to this. I run 2 miles daily, 100 push ups, 200 sit ups, a bunch of pull ups throughout the day, and it does sharpen your mind quite a bit. I’m enlisting and I’m trying to max out the APFT standards before I actually join. It impacts your mind positively quite a bit
Great article. Thanks.
How, might I ask, is it that Ronald Reagan and Charlton Heston both end up with advanced Alzheimers, both men fine physical specimens who were fit as a fiddle?
Using your brain muscle a lot will, IMHO, keep Alzheimers more at bay than anything else, so reading FR and posting here will do much for your memory bank folks. Keep thinking!!!!
Thanks for posting, RR.
w, s, ping....
Interesting: my dad and his brother were both tallish, thin, strong men. My dad never exercised though he lettered in 3 sports in college. His brother walked miles daily and swam many laps every day in summer, until he was in his mid 80s. My dad had Alzheimer’s by 80 and was too impaired to live a normal life by then. He lived 5 more childlike years. My uncle did not get one bit of Dementia until he was about 88. He is 90 and he’s declined a lot but still walks a mile or so up a hill every day.
I believe it was the exercise that kept Dementia at bay for about 10 years longer for my uncle than his brother.
I’m with you - no telling how nuts I would be if I hadn’t exercised all my life.
