Liberals 'Don’t Understand What’s Happening in the Country'

In the bonfire of the vanities that is the aftermath of Hillary Clinton’s campaign of 2016 one quote from Shattered, the book of the week, stands supreme.

[C]lueless Hillary Clinton... to a close friend, “I don’t understand what’s happening in the country.”

People like Hillary Clinton won’t understand what is happening to the country until they carve out the cataracts in their eyes that prevent them from seeing what their politics hath wrought. And it is pretty obvious that the same applies to the rest of elite liberaldom.

The political movement that built the welfare state and the administrative state and the liberal cultural hegemony is going on the rocks, and liberals can’t believe it.

The political movement that gave us Reagan and won the Cold War is also on the rocks. But we conservatives are not that shocked that good old gentlemanly libertarian conservatism is done. We conservatives went through our five stages of grief in the year between the Descent of Trump and the nomination of Trump, and now face the world without illusion.

Unlike liberals, still hysterically sobbing in their liberal safe space.

To see what is going on it helps to look at another country that may be in the middle of its own Brexit/Trump phenomenon, i.e., France.

Why are liberals upset? With a few losses at the edges what is going on now is pretty much the status quo as set under Obama. No wall, sanctuary cites still here, judges thwarting everything, no budget, no repeal of Obamacare. The only crack down on illegals are for those that commit crimes( Newsflash, the are ALL criminals). Trump is not to blame for most of the shortcomings but wheres the change?

The Progressive agenda is predicated on political gain, not what is best for the whole country. Of course Hitlery and all the others don’t understand what’s happening in the country.

And here is the flip side to that:

The Globalist agenda is predicated on political gain, not what is best for the whole country. Of course Ryan and all the others don’t understand what’s happening in the country.

Since January, Congress has passed something like 13 Congressional Review Acts, each of which has repealed large bodies of Obama regulatory crime, and has blocked their reintroduction by EO in the future. While the media has you misled and distracted, the swamp is being drained without fanfare,

These people aren't liberals in the original sense; they're collectivists/statists/communists. The sooner we correctly identify them as the enemy, the sooner we can wage war on their ideological filth.

Thank you. There’s a lot to be done, but things have been done already, and those things are being swept under the rug.

We must remember that the Progressives and Globalists are actually one in the same. They just go about attaining their goal at different speeds.

“The dearth of legislative accomplishments in Congress since January tells me that they haven’t grasped the message of the 2016 election.”

As difficult as it is, I think we need to converge on DC in our tens and hundreds of thousands, and try to explain things to congress.

“That influence was likely felt more in the populated areas than the frontier but I suppose that would depend on those pioneers.”

Is God’s presence more attenuated in the wilderness?

I don't know. I'm simply going on the assumption the higher the number of people involved in said religion the more influence may be felt.

I don't know if it's the number of people worshiping or the intensity of that worship that is greater in God's eyes or if there is no difference at all. Who am I to presume to know his mind? My assumption could very well be wrong but we have no way of knowing.

Let me explain my position with a Mormon joke though.

How do you keep a Mormon from drinking all your booze and coffee and smoking all your cigs on a camping trip?

Answer: Invite two Mormon's. They will watch each other like a hawk to make sure they don't break any Mormon rules. (The short answer is simply: Invite two) Figured I'd make sure there wasn't any misunderstanding on what the joke was about though. I'm taken wrong too often as it is.

They don’t understand basic economics, morality or how to chose the proper bathroom, either. Is anyone here surprised?

I do quite a bit of self-examination of my beliefs.

I can be wrong, and I have been wrong. I have apologized to people on Free Republic.

In this case, I don’t think that I’m wrong.

The Democrats don’t have some high-minded philosophy they follow.

They are just thieves.

All these articles examining Democrat political thought are a complete waste of time and effort. In fact, they are probably just an excuse to write long tomes to show the author’s writing skills.

They just confuse the issue.

The Democrats are thieves.

Their concern is money.

They want it.

“I’m taken wrong too often as it is.”

Your meaning would seem to be that religious people are all hypocrites, pursuing their religion out of fear of their fellow man and never out of love of God.

Those who preach the virtues of DIVERSITY the loudest, are always those that live the furthest from it.

This is why they do not know what has turned.

Many years ago I started to say that those who still believed in what used to be plain common sense, indisputable and as obvious as the rising sun, were being called fools and worse and those who raved in a manner that, in my youth, would have landed them in a hospital for the mentally incapacitated were being elected to high office. Maybe, just maybe, the majority of the country is ready to stop electing idiots and fools to high office. People like Hillary Clinton will never admit that what used to make sense long ago still does and what she has been spouting is the kind of raving that used to be instantly recognized as insanity.

As far as democrats who are elected to office you are probably ninety percent correct if not even higher. Unfortunately those who vote to elect them are often stupid enough to actually believe the crap spouted by Hillary and others. I know this from talking to some of them. The same sort of what they call reasoning that tells them that Hillary should be president tells them that all Republicans should be hanged or shot. I’m not kidding, they really believe this kind of absurdity and consider themselves morally superior to those who believe otherwise.

Methinks you’re overthinking this as far as I’m concerned. I simply don’t give it that much thought. My interests lay elsewhere on the political spectrum.

“I simply don’t give it that much thought.”

That might not turn out to be the best course.

There certainly are some who understand and believe in socialism. I don’t think there are very many that way.

A lot of people vote Democrat because they believe the Democrats will take money from other people (steal) for them.

My Dad was a lifelong Democrat. Several years ago I started asking him about his support for Democrat policies. He was against them all.

He was for the Democrats because he felt they would give him increased Social Security. He knew that somebody else would have to pay for any increase, but he didn’t care. It had been promised to him.

You take a look at the number of people: with government jobs; on Social Security; on Medicare; on Food Stamps; on Social Security Disability.

Do they vote Democrat because they want to pull Turnips at Turnip Commune #43 under socialism, or is it because they want the Democrats to steal more money for them?

I don’t think that there’s anything noble about the Democrat Party. It’s a union of thieves.
