A shock leaked poll obtained by Belgian newspaper La Libre shows Marine Le Pen leading the French Presidential race on 26%, with conservative Francois Fillon in second place on 22%.
If that result played out today it would mean that establishment favourite Emmanuel Macron would be knocked out and that Le Pen would take on Fillon one-on-one.

"Leaked Poll" ???
Isn't the point of a poll to spread information?
Last Chance France.
May be an internal poll from one of the campaigns.
What happened to Obama’s candidate, Macron?
How’s the French system work?
Is the winner really the winner, like our president?
Or is it a power sharing thingy among the top few?
Does he have executive power like our guy and does he have the equivalent of a hostile congress awaiting him.
It’s a her, isn’t it? :)
Not necessarily. Its to obtain information. What you do with that information depends on who and why the poll was commissioned. There are numerous instances where the information/results are not released, but causes the people who commissioned the poll to alter their behavior accordingly.
Politicians may emphasize one topic versus another, and may even change their position or policy. Stores may change their inventory or pricing to meet what consumers want. etc...
Obama is a misogynist. Everyone knows it’s time for a woman to be President of France!
Go LePen - MFGA!
In a match of a conservative vs Le Pen, voters would chose the conservative. The same thing happened in 2002 with Chirac. However, it the second-place finisher were a leftist who was lukewarm on emigration, then she’d win easily.
We shall soon find out if the French like walking over or around dead
bodies from Terrorist strikes or if most want to take back their country.
That would be awesome. Now obama’s electoral cancer is spreading across the world. After successfully destroying the democrat farm-team in the US, he has trained his sights on Europe. He should have learned his lesson when his campaign against Brexit was rejected by the British citizenry.
Anyway, the Belgian newspaper La Libre claims to have been able to gain access to one such opinion poll ("leaked" from a "reputable" opinion polling organization according to La Libre), and the magazine also presents another leaked poll which has been published in la Tribune de Genève. The results in that second poll are somewhat different. There Macron leads with 24%, in front of LePen on 23% and Fillon on 20.5%.
Mesdames et messieurs, faites vos jeux - place your bets.
You go girl!
Election polls may not be published in France a day or two before the election. It is called “polling silence.”
MFGA!
That would fit nicely sur un béret, ce n’est pas?
The French system:
System of elections - they have run-off elections. Presuming nobody gets 50 percent in round 1, the top two advance to the run-off.
System of government - they have a President and a National Assembly. The President is considered to be a strong president, not a figurehead; But, the ministers of government (cabinet officers) are determined by the National Assembly. The new National Assembly will be elected later this year.
Leaked poll - polls were supposed to be shut off during the several days prior to the election. This “leaked pol” is described as Belgian.
Everybody thinks Le Pen and Macron will finish 1st and 2nd (probably, but not necessarily in that order). But, the situation is dynamic and there are reasons to think Fillon or the communist will edge Macron for the run-off.
Everybody also thinks Le Pen will lose badly to whomever she faces in the 2nd round. This is not clear to me. Depending on whom she faces, she could seek support of one or both of the losers. For example, in the second round, she may be able appeal to the hard-left on the basis of shared antagonism of the EU. Or. she may be able to appeal to the center-right on the basis of pro-growth economic policies.
In the Le Pen versus Fillon scenario, there is one problem. Fillon has said he’ll terminate 500,000 civil service employees. Those guys and their families...won’t vote for Fillon. Toss in the fact that probably 40-percent of the registered voters won’t show up to vote for either right-wing candidates.
Rendre la France géniale à nouveau
Best possible result, if true.
