New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Wednesday that cigarette prices in the city would go up $2.50 to $13 which, de Blasio bragged, would be "the highest price in the country."
.
.
.
Council Member Fernando Cabrera, who introduced the bill to create the licensing requirement for e-cigarette retailers, described the proposal as "a major step to limit the use of e-cigarettes, which are dangerous nicotine delivery systems that can lead to nicotine and potentially drug addiction."

Cops jumped a black guy selling loosies at a buck a piece; took him down and the guy was unable to breathe with all those cops on him. He died. For a lousy buck.

Correction: IIRC, he died of a heart attack. If one is not breathing, it makes it difficult to shout, “I can’t breathe.”

Maybe, if he wasn’t resisting arrest...Stupid law, but he paid for breaking it.

He started out saying he couldn’t breathe then the heart attack followed.

Had? I quit when FL doubled the tax..$2.50/pk > $5 over-night. Smoked the rest of the pack and never picked another up since.

Politicians aren’t stupid enough to try prohibition of another sort. They’d rather make criminals of once lawful Citizens. Much faster way to strip Rights away when that ‘felony’ charge kicks in...no more voting, 2nd, etc.

The Civil War (War Between the States was NOT a ‘civil war’, by definition) can’t come fast enough; but, I suspect, it will take more boots on throats before it happens.

Wonder if the cig machines in the halls of the elected are financed by taxpayer $$?? I suspect our alleged ‘betters’ are tax exempt.

De Blasio obviously never took a class in basic economics. Raising the price of cigarettes through taxes will mean the market buys fewer cigarettes or will seek cheaper substitutes...namely bootlegged cigarettes. Haven’t NY Indian tribes figured out that they can sell cigarettes on their reservations without these taxes and make millions selling to visitors?

What is DeBlasio’s vice?

Let ban that.
