North Korea 'will test missiles weekly', senior official tells BBC

North Korea will continue to test missiles despite international condemnation and increasing military tensions with the US, a senior official has told the BBC in Pyongyang.

"We'll be conducting more missile tests on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis," Vice Foreign Minister Han Song-Ryol told the BBC's John Sudworth. He said that an "all out war" would result if the US took military action. Earlier, US Vice-President Mike Pence warned North Korea not to test the US. He said his country's "era of strategic patience" with North Korea was over.

Mr Pence arrived in Seoul on Sunday hours after North Korea carried out a failed missile launch. Tensions have been escalating on the peninsula, with heated rhetoric from both North Korea and the US. What can the outside world do about N Korea? All about North Korea's missiles Speaking alongside South Korea's acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn, Mr Pence said North Korea should not test US President Donald Trump.

"Just in the past two weeks, the world witnessed the strength and resolve of our new president in actions taken in Syria and Afghanistan," Mr Pence said. "North Korea would do well not to test his resolve or the strength of the armed forces of the United States in this region." He reiterated US support for South Korea, telling his host: "We are with you 100%."

At a news conference at the UN on Monday, North Korea's permanent representative Ambassador Kim In-ryong, condemned the US missile strikes in Syria, which targeted an air base after a suspected chemical attack by the government.]

He said the US was "disturbing global peace and stability and insisting on [a] gangster-like logic".

It would be wise to have an interim figure waiting in the wings. There would be some invasion, yes, but the process doesn’t have to start from utter scratch.

Kim doesn’t have the number of threats worthy of an Aegis AMB response.

I hope you're right!

Surely this pic is photo-shopped. If true, the Norks have outdone the Ruskies of Stalinist days with all their metals.

Unless these Nork officers served in the Korean war, I fail to see where all those metals - presumably battle metals - could have come from.

Militarily, yes.

One interesting question I have is: how would Donald Trump view this from a humanitarian point of view? The slap to Syria for the chemical bombing seems to hint at what kind of cards he holds in that vein.

Donald might well take down the whole Dear Leader network in order to get a more humane regime in there. I really think this is where his heart is.

There's so make believe in N.Korea......all smoke and mirrors.

But the leadership doesn't care if we like it or not

as long as the people there buy it...or fake that they do.

Note of interest:.....

..anywhere you travel in NK you will not see any wildlife including birds

... They are ALL collected by the locals for food.

...But in the city he builds the elites amusement parks etc. but even then only a few in the city can afford to go to them. ...

What North Korea needs is nothing short of regime change.China must understand it is results that count not cosmetics
that make it look like they are doing something to effectuate change with one hand and slip foreign exchange to them under the table with the other.. Bottom line if their charge, that little turd, is still running North Korea one year hence expect a protective tariff of 40 per cent on all Chinese goods entering the US.Clock starts running now. tick, tick, tick

24.8 million people, the vast majority living in horrible conditions. If, and it's a huge if, the little urchin could be overthrown think about the re-education it would take to normalize those people. Would SK want to reunify with them?

The economic costs to help NK would be Marshall Plan like in scope.

Is there anything even remotely resembling a leadership in exile for North Korea? I assume anyone even pondering such a title would be murdered by some kind of 14 year old girl assassin within the year.

All this only distracts us from concentrating on who our real enemy is — I-S-L-A-M.

I-S-L-A-M is W-A-T-C-H-I-N-G

Why? Because they are N-E-X-T
