I don’t believe deficiency, illness or injury increase the body’s absorption rate of Vitamin C, although I suppose it’s possible.
A Doctor Klenner was maybe the first to utilize Vitamin C and even reported curing polio.
HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT: The Pioneering Work of FREDERICK ROBERT KLENNER, M.D.
It seems past time that some objective studies were conducted by our government health organizations because no drug company would have the incentive to conduct the expensive studies required since vitamins can't be patented.
Not a doctor, but I also think that Vitamin C could be used in conjunction with most drug therapies without causing any interference. Seems nutty that more experimentation is not done on Vitamin C.
You read one hype article and that is all the proof you need for your medical advice? Geez.
Cut out the diet sunkist.

Everybody wants a miracle cure. Very few are willing to do the simple (but requiring discipline) steps that statistically aid in health).
It is very human to want something for nothing. We are an opportunistic species!

“A search for Klenner and his polio cure yields hits that nearly all come from pro-quackery sites, “
“Not long before that, Dr. Marik had been reading about the healing powers of Vitamin C. On a hunch, he gave 1.5 grams of it to Valerie intravenously (because the body can only absorb 500 milligrams when taken orally), along with the steroid hydrocortisone, to reduce inflammation. He would later add Vitamin B to the mixture three patients later.”
The first sentence: “It seems too good to be true.”
Used to we ran from ideas that ‘seemed too good to be true’ ....
Fear of malpractice claims would give many doctors pause before embarking on “an unproven” course of treatment.
Anecdotal stories need to be backed up with more research, but on a side note, I was a co-author of a study from the 80’s that showed pre-treatment with vitamin C before prostate surgery resulted in decreased need for post-surgical transfusions.
Our methodology was not great so we did not send it in for publication and I moved on before we could redesign the study but it was intriguing.
LOL BACON! Good my previously epileptic brain. Read the other day about an Italian woman who lived to be 117 and only ate 3 eggs a day and COOKIES. I know it was the cookies.
I used to take 1,000 mg C with biflavorniods daily until it shot my Blood Sugar up. I can tell you it helps the immune system.
And yes your body will absorb that much. Just takes longer.
Since I now have to do morning BS readings I’ve had to stop it, and I notice the difference in how my body reacts immune wise. Doesn’t matter if I take the C after my morning BS reading, I will read high the next day. Then I’ve the ENDO wanting to put me on one of those horrid Diabetes meds. When in truth it’s just an Vit C over load.
” She recommended I take a liquid vitamin because all of the liquid gets absorbed.”
I think you should find another doctor.
I find the healthiest approach is to eat food in its most natural and unprocessed form.
If Big Pharma and their cronies in DC can’t sell it for $500 per pill, they aren’t interested.
hershey’s DARK chocolate. I think they changed their recipe or the water is different over in China. Eastern PA has the best water for cooking and baking. YUM.
Ever wonder why CVS, Walgreens and Walmart have all these supplements on their shelves?
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I have a mental block (anxiety?) with writing a research study for psych class. BAH. Tons of research, one newer study done in Sweden (I think) that backed up my theory but just can’t do it anymore. Used to be able to write an easy paper in a couple of hours. Maybe it’s the statistics that freaks me out. LOL
