President Trump Quietly Rolling Back Obama-Era Gun Controls

While rolling back onerous Obama-era environmental and business regulations, President Donald Trump has also been quietly dropping gun controls which were either put in place or at least prolonged by the Obama administration.

On February 28 Breitbart News reported that Trump signed the repeal of Obama’s Social Security gun ban; a ban which empowered the Social Security administration to strip away the Second Amendment rights of Social Security beneficiaries without due process. Days later, Trump’s Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke squashed Obama’s lead ammunition ban for federal lands and waters.

According to McClatchy, Trump’s administration has been quietly working to do away with other Obama-era firearm regulations as well.

National reciprocity? Well other then only needing the 2nd amendment of course which should be the only CCW one needs. I certainly wouldn't wish for nannie bloomers to get an ulcer over these revelations. Or the HAGs. Housewives Against Guns.

Pres. Trump also:

Got the agencies to use a narrower definition of ‘fugitive’

Agencies want to get:

Weapons OK on Army Corp of Engineers land

Congress is working on getting rid of:

Limitations on Veterans owning guns

The ban on owning suppressors

I’d like to see national reciprocity for ccw holders & then permitless constitutional carry, both open & concealed.

Trump is revealing to us how the US Government works.

Much of what any President does now is “extra-legal” - executive orders, ignoring particular parts of our massive Federal Register, appointing people who will interpret or enforce our absolutely massive bureaucracy in a different way.

REAL reform - in terms of changing laws or major spending flows, on the other hand, is impossible.

What was the rule or reg. that stopped gun shops from getting credit and that hindered bank dealings?

Reverse that one.

The lead ban on Federal lands would have halted the annual matches at Camp Perry. Most Bullseye pistol shooters shoot lead bullets.

He’s doing what we hired him to do... and doing what he said he would do.

Damn...

When was the last time THAT happened...?

1980-1988, as I remember it.

“Weapons OK on Army Corp of Engineers land”

Better still, Army Corps of Engineers doesn’t control any land. And actually, disband the “civilian part” of the ACoE, they are a bunch of land rapists.

I have property adjacent to COE lands. They have never once banned anything except development. Hunters come and go as they please.

I’d like to see CCW holders be able to receive firearms shipments direct from the seller rather than go through an FFL ($30 please. Thank you come again.) At this point, I’ll go for signing that damned 4473 and sending it in with my payment. Once that’s in place, THEN we can talk about that 4473.

The Curio & Relic license holders already have something like this in place, so just expand the coverage to the CCWs(less the “keep records” part). I’d also like to see CCWs able to buy a handgun in any state. They’ve been fingerprinted, taken mug shots, passed a state and fed background check so what’s the problem in doing so?

Isn’t there any Senator or Congressman willing to propose this law? Mine (AZ) just send me “Thank you for contacting me” boilerplate answers. Put their feet to the fire, fellas.

Most lawmakers know nothing about firearms, FFL, C&R, 4473, ammunition nomenclature or anything else for that matter.

“...Most lawmakers know nothing about firearms...”

They know the most important thing - in THEIR mind - about firearms... that we shouldn’t be “allowed” to have them.

Sucks to be them, doesn’t it... :^)

Hmmm. Seem to remember being able to order WW II surplus weapons(rifles) delivered directly to your house out of Popular Mechanics and other “manly” magazines prior to bobby kennedy being shot. Anyone got any of those old ads?

Trump can single-handedly neuter the Hughes Amendment if he wants. Just one simple executive order.
As executive for a jurisdiction, he can authorize all citizens (subject to all other applicable laws) to purchase post-1986 machineguns via NFA Form 4.
