On Thursday night, America launched the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb (MOAB) at ISIS stations in Afghanistan. The air blast bomb, dubbed with the nickname Mother of All Bombs engendered the death of 36 ISIS militants, Afghan officials report. The deaths took place near the Pakistan border, where ISIS is believed to have up to 800 soldiers stationed. The Mother of All Bombs annihilated weapons, ammunition, and underground tunnels, but according to the Afghan Defense Ministry spokesperson, there were no civilian casualties.

The bomb killed 26 soldiers?

I doubt that simply because if this is the largest non-nuclear bomb around, and considering much lesser bombs vaporize humans beyond recognition, then the kill could have been much much more simply because bodies were no longer bodies.

Unless they knew for fact there were only 36 there to kill, and this was just a test to see what else would be destroyed, like tunnels and hardened structures.

I think this is on the order of the missile strike Trump ordered on Syria recently. More of a message to someone else than it was to destroy Syrian AF capabilities.

The beauty of a bomb like that is those out in the open were probably vaporized, immolated or blown into so many pieces that an accurate count is not possible.

Which is why I wouldn't put it past McCain and/or Graham to rush to a camera to spout some argle-bargle about wanting "body counts".

How do you make an accurate battle damage assessment? Anyone close to it would be vaporized and people buried in the caves and tunnels after they collapsed would never be accounted for. It’s got to be a best guess, like they used in Vietnam.

The BLU-82B or “Daisy Cutter” is the largest conventional bomb in existence and is 17 feet long and 5 feet in diameter, about the size of a Volkswagen Beetle but much heavier. It contains 12,600 pounds of GX slurry (ammonium nitrate, aluminum powder, and polystyrene), and is so bulky that it cannot even be launched in a conventional method. To put that in context, the ammonium nitrate in just one Daisy Cutter bomb is about six times the amount used in the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City. Although the blast from this bomb is extremely lethal, it still has less than a thousandth the destructive power of the atomic bomb used on Hiroshima.

Just how do they arrive at the number 36 dead ISIS scum? Matching up body parts or the ones that were charred and blown to bits? Have they gone through what is left of the tunnels to ascertain just how many died in them?

Are they taking the word of ISIS for the body count? LOL to that one.

Bet they even sent a ‘journalist’ in the mountain to count each one..hope they didn’t have a lot of difficulty entering the tunnel to do their count..
