For the first time in 12 years I am breaking two traditions for the TCMS. Each year the shoot is held at different locations; although some ranges were visited two or more times, it has never happened in consecutive years. But because my life has been a bit wonky lately I just don’t have the energy for the research and recon.
The other broken tradition is the name change. This year we will also honor my co-cat herder, NYTexan, and my beloved husband, Eaker; both of these fine men passed away within days of each other this past March.
Therefore, the shoot will mirror last year’s shoot. I spoke with the folks at Cherokee Village Resort this afternoon and temporarily reserved the entire place for October 19 ~ 22, 2017. Tomorrow I will call and confirm those dates, then post the final date to make your reservations. When calling to make a reservation, mention that you are with the TexasCowboy group. You will have to make a deposit equal to a one night stay.
The shoot will be held at Hicksville Gun Range, in Gatesville, starting at 10:00 a.m. on the 21st. Where once again we can enjoy the range dogs, the owners and lunch provided by our own cook, cpdiii.
humblegunner has volunteered to make some containers in which to place Eaker’s ashes, which will be attached to containers of tannerite so that we can all blow Eaker’s ashes into the wind. It will be an epic send off!

The last couple of years, business was growing like crazy, and we couldn’t catch our breath. It’s still expanding, but we’ve got more help now, and can manage a few days off.
I really want to be there this year to honor my old buddy, Eaker. He sorta took me under his wing when I was a newbie here. I never forgot that.
I'm sure I never promised....as I'm not prone to promising...and not fulfilling that promise.
That said...I'd very much like to attend...
OK, maybe not promised. More like I’ll try this year. LOL

Glad to hear your business is growing. You guys deserve much success from working your butts off.
He really liked your online self. After he met you in person that like went up 100%. He always had good things to say about you and Jen, and as a parent, respected how you two were raising such awesome children.
I was hoping to be there this year but we already have a hunting trip scheduled which includes those days.
Missing the shoot makes me very sad.
All of you will be in my thoughts during that time.

I regret being unable to get back to Texas to attend Eaker's auditory sendoff, but can at least participate in the event where I am at present. 10:00 a.m. on the 21st, Texas time? Commence firing! On the way!
Not too far from my old haunts around the Cleburne area. Reckon I can find the festivities at Gatesville okay, but it'll have to be next year.
