Scientists Warn of Climate Apocalypse: CO2 Emissions Will Send Earth Back to ‘Triassic Period’

The unchecked use of fossil fuels will produce a climate not seen since the Triassic period about 200 million years ago, researchers warn in a new report.

The culprit for this unprecedented warming is atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2), suggest researchers led by the University of Southampton in the UK, which by the year 2250 could reach levels equivalent to those of the “age of reptiles,” when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

In their research, the researchers admit that CO2 levels are “much lower now” than they have been at other, hotter points in the earth’s history, yet they warn that levels are rising rapidly.

During hotter periods in the planet’s history, the concentration of CO2 has climbed as high as 3,000 parts per million (ppm), whereas in 2016, the concentration was only 400 ppm.

Trailer for “An Inconvenient Sequal, Truth to Power” played yesterday at a theater in south central Pennsylvania. It was met with total silence. Bad fake science doesn’t play well here. Opens 7/28/2017

by the year 2250

Burned themselves too many times with 10, 20, and 50 year predictions that NEVER come true, leaving them looking like the frauds they are, they are now making predictions so far out no one alive today will be able to prove or disprove.

What we have here is a religious cult called “Scientism”.

I’m calling shullbit on carbon dioxide-induced global warming. Doesn’t exist. Mechanism by which even high concentrations of carbon dioxide “trap” heat just is not there. Carbon dioxide does not “trap” any more heat than the nitrogen or oxygen components of the atmosphere.

The big mover is water vapor, or rather, the heat of vaporization of liquid water to water vapor, or the heat of fusion, the freezing of ice out of water. Carbon dioxide does none of this under normal earth atmospheric conditions. To visualize this, it takes some 80 calories of heat energy to convert one gram of ice to one gram of water, even though the temperature of both the ice and the liquid water is 0 degrees Centigrade. To convert one gram of water at 100 degrees Centigrade to one gram of water vapor at 100 degrees Centigrade takes some 540 calories of additional heat energy. Now, water does NOT have to be heated to 100 degrees Centigrade to have the phase change from liquid to water vapor, as it occurs at all temperatures within the range of liquid water, it just gets faster as it gets hotter. Even ice can form water vapor, in a process called sublimation, as both the heat of fusion and the heat of vaporization are combined to effect the phase change.

All this heat energy has to go somewhere, and that is why there are clouds in the stratosphere, very high above the earth’s surface. Water vapor is much lighter than the other components of the atmosphere, and it rises quickly into the heights, where at night, it gives up its heat, becomes very small ice crystals, and the heat is radiated off the earth during the night hours. Ice crystals, being much more compact than water vapor, have a tendency to sink lower into the atmosphere, at which point the warming rays of the morning sun melt the ice crystals into droplets of water, which at a certain point condense into large enough drops to fall to earth as rain. It is a huge and continuously operating heat transfer machine that has functioned perfectly since the earth cooled enough for the formation of liquid water from water vapor.

So we are in danger of reverting to one of the periods in erf’s history when life was abundant and flourishing?

The horror!

I am so thankful that my sons are not climatologists. How embarrassing.

My kids - and all their cousins - were exposed (subjected?!) to the same sort of comic mockery from their uncles that you see in the comments of this thread. That cured all except one of them - a cousin. Of course I hear he wears dresses these days ;'}
