Republicans Suddenly Sweating Election in Deep-Red Kansas District
The Hill ^ | 44/07/17 | MAX GREENWOOD

Posted on 04/08/2017 11:05:58 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Vice President Pence is stepping into Kansas's special House election, recording a robocall urging Republican voters to cast their ballots for the party's congressional nominee on Tuesday, the Washington Examiner reported on Friday.

The robocall comes amid shaky support for Kansas State Treasurer Ron Estes, who is running against Democrat James Thompson to fill the House seat vacated by Mike Pompeo, who is now President Trump's CIA director.

President Trump won Kansas's 4th District by almost 30 points in November. But Democrats in the district have been energized by the president's low-approval ratings and controversies in his first months in office, leaving Republicans sweating over whether they will be able to hold the seat.

"Ron's run a horrible campaign," a Kansas Republican operative told the Examiner. "Hasn't raised much money, his ads are abysmal — no energy. It's a low turnout special and weird things happen."

Pence isn't the only high-profile Republican to step in to try to aid Estes. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is expected to make an appearance in Kansas' 4th District on Monday, according to the Kansas City Star.

Another special House race in Georgia's 6th District also has Republicans scrambling for a win. Democrat Jon Ossoff has gained a high-profile in the district and is leading Republican candidates in polls to fill the House seat vacated by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.

What would anyone expect from such an ardent NeverTrumper as yourself, Nathan?

Your attempts to appear otherwise are ridiculous to those of us who watched and argued with you during the primaries.

Gee, this has to be taken seriously, ‘cause The Hill was exactly on the mark in their polling data leading up to Nov. 8, and they were bold in their prediction that candidate Trump would wrap it up early on election eve.

Wait a minute...

Thank you for your report. I knew that there was something off with this Ossoff business just like all the hoopla they did here in Georgia about the Princess Nunn headed to win the Senate Seat.

Democrats have made inroads in urban metropolitan areas for sure, but they do not control the state legislature, governorship and have a minority of US Representatives.

They talk up a good scare game, but the numbers hitting the ground can only get to a very few packed urban areas, IMO.

‘Keep attacking me, keep dodging the merits and watch more and more conservatives peel away from mindless cultish devotion to personality over policy.’

That’s actually what happened in the primaries. Cruz supporters kept attacking Trump supporters, and it became more about vilifying them than putting out a positive message. Slowly but steadily Cruz’ supporters peeled off and boarded the Trump train. You know the rest.

NB, I’ve read quite a few of your posts. I’ve seen you quote the exact, word for word, talking points against Trump that Hillary herself and her supporters quote. Who you imagine you’re influencing is a mystery. A few diehard NeverTrumpers already agree with you, and no doubt they revel in your nonstop spew of gloom and doom. As far as anyone else goes, who’s going to listen to a person who puts the worst possible spin on anything Trump-related? It’s irritating at best.

You write a crock, of fantasy worthy of your moniker. You have inverted reality, it is the Trump bots such as yourself who turned this forum into a Pravda in which you indulged the most base kind of political discourse.

It was the Trump bots who attacked those who supported Ted Cruz with the most outlandish charges, most of which a reasonable person must conclude have boomeranged on Donald Trump by now. For example, where is Goldman Sachs firmly ensconced but in the Trump cabinet?

Ad hominem became the go to method to swarm anyone who cited a fact against Donald Trump.

As the Trump administration keeps some promises but betrays others, your tactics are confusing fewer and fewer conservatives. I suggest you follow my example and praise Trump when he commits an act of conservatism and oppose him when he reverts to the leftist tendencies of his daughter and son-in-law

Trump just had the best week of his presidency. Is The Hill's writer living under a rock?

Stop being negative jackass. It's annoying.

The lurker can't help it, he is what he is. A know nothing jackass that should go back to lurken because like a loud mouthed brat, he should sit down and be quiet.

It's all about the economy and economy is getting better. It will get even better if tax cuts are passed.

Pass Trumpcare and all bets are off.

“The rounding up and shipping out of illegals already here are at record highs.”

You are quite wrong and I would appreciate any evidence to support your position—since there isn’t any.

It’s amazing how some supposed Republicans are just not happy unless they expouse a doomsday scenario. Some pubbies are experts at achieving failure out of the near surety of success.
We are lucky to have Trump as a potus and good posters like you on FR.

This story is probably true.

As far as I know Presidents enter office and pass some signature legislation to fanfare.

Trump chose Obamacare, but however it played out he didn't understand the Freedom Caucus rightful objections and sided with sleazeball Ryan. Then, not knowing what he should of of the bill he high pressured, including an attempt to publicly embarrass the Freedom Caucus. That's a pretty crappy first legislative venture into office.

Now the fake news Russia crap and traitorous Obama’s coup may have contributed to it but it's still an embarrassment. But Trump's a fast learner and should soon get all this worked out.

ROFLMAO.... This is wishful thinking from the Leftist at The Hill

“President Trump won Kansas’s 4th District by almost 30 points in November. But Democrats in the district have been energized by the president’s low-approval ratings and controversies in his first months in office, leaving Republicans sweating over whether they will be able to hold the seat.”

Oh do they mean the same FAKE POLLS, pushed by the FAKE STREAM MEDIA, that told us the day before the election Hillary had a 98% chance of winning???

“Another special House race in Georgia’s 6th District also has Republicans scrambling for a win. Democrat Jon Ossoff has gained a high-profile in the district and is leading Republican candidates in polls to fill the House seat vacated by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price.”

Tom Price’s district is one of the most conservative districts. It’s not going to happen no matter how bad you wish it would.

The only way I see the Republicans losing in these elections is if it’s stolen. Leftist are so pathetically desperate.

Smh. NB, you are talking to a Trump supporter. Your spin doesn't work here. I started out as a Cruz supporter, and ***even before I shifted to Trump*** I was viciously attacked for (supposedly) being a Trump supporter. (Believe me, that didn't make my decision to switch to Trump any harder.)

I spent long mos being demonized in every way imaginable. If I had a dollar for every nasty name I was called, I could buy an annuity.

Which brings me to how many times I saw Trump called, "a sleaze." Now that is a persuasive argument (it isn't). But considering the other things Trump was called (by Cruz supporters), 'sleaze,' was not really so bad.

Now you say you don't hate Trump. Your words say otherwise. When you are parroting Hillary's lines to minimize Trump's victories and successes, you undercut your claim not to hate him. If it walks like a duck...

As to the rest, mull this over for a while. ShareBlue is the Soros-funded online anti-Trump brigade; ShariaBlue is their nic:

Red alert: ShariaBlue caught posting fake rumors about Bannon/Kushner all over pro Trump channel. The goal is to alienate Trump's populist activist base.
