Repeal Obamacare and replace with freedom. Change House and Senate rules to do so if necessary!

Posted on 03/27/2017 12:52:30 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

"Prior to this year, the House voted to repeal Obamacare more than 50 times ---when it was clear that President Obama would veto the bill. The problem we are facing is that some of the people who voted for repeal 50 times will not vote for repeal when it counts, when it is "our moment in time," with Republicans in control of Congress and the presidency." --Rep Dave Brat

"This has been my complaint since before Obamacare became law. Nothing I’ve seen addresses the problem of increased costs of medical care. All these bills just shift the rising costs from the users to the taxpayers. The system can’t work if healthcare costs continue to rise at a rate that’s faster than household income." --mbynack

Costs go through the roof when the government unconstitutionally mandates that everyone MUST be covered and must be covered for all kinds of crap they don’t need or want and regardless of preexisting conditions or whether they can pay for it or even if they are not citizens. Tyranny is expensive.

To our Republican Representatives:

Repeal 100% of Obamacare and replace with free enterprise/free market solutions per the U.S. Constitution!

Nothing else is acceptable or workable. Socialism, communism, fascism, central planning, etc, is totalitarianism and never works!! Our federal government and our constitutional republic was not designed to be and was never intended to be a welfare state! Our Constitution was designed to prevent all this TYRANNICAL crap!

We rebelled against a tyrannical king for a lot less than this!

No excuses. If the house or senate rules are obstacles to repeal with a simple majority vote or within reconciliation rules (or whatever), then change the damned rules already so you can repeal this unconstitutional piece of socialist crap with the simple majorities you hold in both chambers! The constitution gives YOU the majority, the power to do that.

The congress and the chief executive have just as much power, authority and responsibility as the SCOTUS (and perhaps even more so) to ensure that the Constitution is upheld! Do whatever it takes to fulfill your constitutional DUTY!

We voted in Republican majorities and a Republican president specifically so you can do this REPEAL deal, ON DAY ONE!

Just shut up the ridiculous whining, hand wringing and squabbling and quit trying to pass additional or watered down but still tyrannical unconstitutional bills and just get the clean repeal DONE as you PLEDGED to your constituents and is your sworn constitutional DUTY!!

For crying out loud are you the elected representatives of the free citizens of a free market constitutional republic or are WE the captive subjects of a tyrannical USSR style communist government with a centrally planned economy?

To all:

Does the constitution even matter to you people anymore?

Does the Republic matter?

Does Liberty matter?

Does a free market economy matter?

Our constitutionally limited government was not intended to take care of us from cradle to grave.

It’s NOT their job!!

Conservatives and the Freedom Caucus are not our enemies. The big government globalist establishment is!

And if we go along with it trying for a free lunch, we are. The government does not owe us health care or health care insurance. It’s NOT a God-given right! Nor is it a constitutional power for the federal government. It's reserved to the states and the people!

Wake the hell up, people, it’s a lot later than you think.

Dood, the only pressure that will build is on GOP seats in moderate districts, the closer they get to Nov 2018.

You’re delusional.

Great posts. Ryan is the snake Trump used to talk about.

I heard then candidate Trump say “Repeal and Replace” over 100 times over the course of 6 months. Probably 200 times over the course of a year.

Is everybody just realizing now that “Repeal and Replace” doesn’t mean just ‘repeal’.

Doesn’t matter. His campaign promise in that regard is null and void, superseded by his sworn oath to faithfully execute the office of the presidency and to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

The sworn Oath before God and country takes moral and legal precedence over any conflicts of prior promises.

The stupid Senate rules which are perfectly ok to modify under RAT leadership, are not to be elevated above the priorities set out in the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution including the Bill of Rights.

Crush the Senate rules just like the RATS did for "their" judges.

Going out to Rep.Kevin Brady and Sen. John Cornyn’s website now! They hate hearing from me. Love it.

When were they modified without 66 votes?

So if you want to essentially make cloture a process requiring only a simple majority — you can do that, provided you get 66 Senators to agree that is a good rule.

Changing the rules only requires 51 votes.

Creating a rule that requires 66 Senators to change a rule would be an unconstitutional power grab by the senators making such a rule.

We get called, derisively, PURISTS on the board, those of us who want a straight out repeal.

Don’t remember seeing healthcare as a right in the constitution.

The ballyhooed votes were not for full repeal. They serve as no precedent. The House and Senate did not vote for full repeal in the past.

There have been numerous votes on repeal. I believe some of the votes have been full repeal.

Trump promised to “Repeal and Replace” Obamacare. He also said he will not let people just die in the street — but at a fraction of the times he said “Repeal and Replace”.

I voted for him, I knew what he said and intended. I would liked to have seen a flat out repeal and a flat out replacement at the same time but that is not going to happen because he’s not finding support for replacement.

They pulled the bill, the Freedom Caucus gets the blame and every President Trump voter left cursing and gnashing their teeth over it are unintentionally lending support to Schumer, and enabling the MSM fifth column to destroy Trump.

Only a full repeal can expose what really needs to happen.
We are at the stage of having to ‘repeal it to see whats in it’.
Call it a reset, but don’t use one of those stupid red buttons.
Well, that’s my 2¢ anyway.
That’s about what I pay per post here.

Liberal Centrist expert was quoted as below in a previous post:

Core problem in healthcare reform is the actual cost of medical care.
o Healthcare in the U.S. by any measure costs about twice what it should.
o Medical prices are completely disconnected from the cost of production.
o Few medical providers even know the true cost of ownership of their products.
o By a number of analyses at least one third of that (well over $1 trillion this year) is waste, paying for things that we don’t need and that don’t help.
o Solving just the federal part of this would completely wipe out the deficit.

Recommended:
Seriously streamline the regulatory burden on healthcare providers, which has multiplied many times in recent years. The most rapidly-growing part of the hospital sector is the compliance department.

With liberals like Joe Flower on this, there is no reason why the Freedom Caucus cannot build a coalition that includes some Democrats to pass some significant reforms.

Tom Price/Seema Verma have the ability to change or “waive” the regulation of Slavitt and predecessors.

Don’t try for an omnibus bill that solves all problems. Do what is both politically popular accross the spectrum, and what reduces cost.

No plan, not ACA, not Ryancare, not pre-ACA, no plan will work without removal of absurd regulations that drive up the cost.

People like me who work behind the lines in Medicaid in Red States have all kinds of ideas for cost reduction. Many doctors and hospital executives have great ideas. How long does it take Price and Verma to start action?

How long does it take the Freedom Caucus, Heritage, CATO, AFP, etc who opposed Ryancare to push for positive cost reduction measures?

Sorry, Mr. President, as much as we love you, we the people must insist you abide by our constitution. We are a constitutional republic, a nation of laws, not a dictatorship, not a third-world banana state, nor a socialist welfare state and you must faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and must to the best of your ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States as you swore before God and country on January 20, 2017.

You impractical purist, you. /s

Agree completely...Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement to doctors/hospitals averages 15%-30% depending on the procedure/product. That $3000. MRI becomes $499. after the 0.15 math! I read that some Obamacare policy holders are saying “to heck with paying the $3000. applied to my $6000. deductible, I am getting a $499.99 MRI here!”: http://www.mripathways.com

Personal note, the surgeon who did my dad’s hip surgery got paid something like $500. by Medicare for 3.5 hours of meticulous surgery...that is almost less per hour than my car mechanic charges, and certainly less than a lawyer charges!

I’ve got a repub president, house, and senate and incrementalism works. I see absolutely nothing wrong with getting 60% now and 40% later. If the plan works for 100% later, why wouldn’t it work for 40% later?

I’m a Trump supporter/voter but I only want repeal. Replace with freedom, ie, it’s reserved to the states and the people. It’s a matter for free enterprise to provide solutions and or charity hospitals, clinics, community welfare clinics, etc. Health care, health care insurance matters are not federal issues. Period. Federal intrusion is prohibited by the constitution.

And I don’t blame the conservatives of the Freedom Caucus or conservatives in general. I AM a conservative. I am in total opposition to the Ryan bill and remain totally opposed to Lyin’ Ryan and his GOPe big government globalist RINO cabal and fault him and the GOPe completely. I pray he and they continue failing as long as they continue pushing unconstitutional crap!

Drain the swamp! Dump Ryan!

(And Trump needs to reign in his GWB-like “compassionate conservative” streak and rely more on his Reaganesque pro-constitution, pro-small government, anti-socialism, pro-freedom, great communicator, great negotiator, great leadership traits. His new day job requires it! Socialism sucks as bad as NAFTA or open borders globalism.)
