Trump gave Speaker Paul Ryan and the House Republican leadership enough rope to hang themselves. Instead of dictating terms to him, they will now depend on him to save them, politically. They must accept whatever plan he will put forward.
Which is the genius I explained to my friends on the left, who wondered why Trump is being so magnanimous toward Ryan after this defeat.
Let the asshat expose himself to failure and ridicule, then reign him in for support of the plan that will actually succeed and result in demonstrable success.

I’ll have to put up with jibes from the other side for another year, until he prevails, then again for another 5 years until our plan proves out as the more reasoned and ultimately more successful plan.
Notice how the House so rapidly came up with this crap bill, how easily on board he got, and how easily he washed his hands of it as it crashed and burned? Normally, something this big would take several months to hammer out into something that could be voted on with a reasonable chance of success. This whole fiasco was rushed in a big way.
I think someone got snookered, and it wasn't DJT. The press is crowing that it was a loss for Trump, but the fact is Ryan was the big loser here. President Trump has shown us that he is amazingly good at exposing frauds and traitors for the whole world to see. This may have just been one of his 'stings' to out more traitors.
If I'm right about any of this, this has to be one of the most cunning presidents we have had in our lifetimes. In fact, almost frighteningly so, and I'm glad he's on our side....

If you know folks who are struggling with Obamacare, and you know their expenses are going to get much worse very shortly to the point where they will just drop coverage which will overflow emergency rooms, you know that Democrats are going to want to work with Trump to replace the disaster which they own. Trump wanted to fix it but conservatives knew it was too messed up to fix. It must be repealed. Obamacare is an act of enslavement of the American people for it involves life and death. Couldn’t help but think of the children of Israel under the rule of Pharaoh from the old Testament yesterday. Will it take 10 plagues upon the American people to do something to correct the insane Obamacare system?

I think you are right. Ryan was very much against President Trump just a short time ago and we do know he is a member of the “establishment.” Is he incapable of fairly handling his job or is he committed to something more sinister? Who can know these things for sure. We do know the President trusted him to handle this well and it was botched.
Zerocare is only unsustainable for the middle class.
The providers will exit the non-medic-aid/medicare market. The government will continue to pay on a no-cap, by head, basis. Tax and Medicare rates will rise to compensate. Costs will rise because, hey, the government is paying. What did they say on the news tonite? 50% of Calif children and 75% of New Mexico children are on medic-aid?
The landmine Zero and the Dems left for us in Zerocare —that the House failed to avoid today— is, the Dems will slowly raise the threshold for medic-aid higher and higher until everyone under $40K a year is covered - class-specific nationalized health care. (It’ll just cost you your estate when you die, but what do you care, you’ll be dead and your children don’t deserve your privilege.) Guess who the hero is? Not us. Guess who doesn’t have to worry about premiums? Again, not us worker bees. The rich will have private doctors as they do now, and negotiated cash rates with hospitals they have endowments at, or written off under Trust expenses. (Pelosi will get to keep her estate.)
Those making $45K or more will eventually end up on medic-aid after they’ve lost all their assets to the bill collectors chasing deductibles and copays. Because, competing against the overcharged US government rates with insurance companies that really don’t want to do business with anyone but governments anymore, they can’t find an affordable policy. Once they’re on medic-aid, the state gets their estates when they die, too. A captive audience. Or enslaved one, either or. Wealth redistribution under the guise of don’t-call-it nationalized healthcare at its socialist finest.
We’re the ones who’ve been snookered into believing that a bill has to take months and months and years and years and we can’t possibly expect Congresscritters to move their (cough) any faster. Proposals in business take days and weeks. Especially if one has been supposedly sitting on the shelf for 7 years and voted on More Than 60 Times, right? Do these clowns think we’re idiots? Somebody’s playing games, but it’s not Trump and it’s not Pence.
Trump has a lot of bought and paid for losers to deal with. These sad SOB’s, who we call elected officials, do not work for us. They damn sure do not worry about healthcare as they have AFGE (government employees union) insurance.

Congress will be among the last to actually face any healthcare issues as they have AFGE insurance. Almost all of us have faced various cuts like this medicine is not covered by your plan any longer or this MD or hospital does not accept your plan. Even the VA cut medicines and other items as they also have to comply with the ACA.

In my humble opinion, Ryan will not survive this crash and burn. On losing the house, I also think you are wrong. People know the Democrats have nothing left in their quiver and their bench is non-existent, period. What I see is a major shift in many, many primary challenges from our deep bench against those who have shown their deep state alliances are stronger than their supposed alliance to those they are sworn to represent.
Ever since seeing David Brat dispense with one of the biggest RINO’s of all time, Cantor, while being incredibly outspent. Brat did it almost totally on message and a plan to get the message directly to the voters. For those who do not know, Brat’s total expenditures for his campaign were less than one establishment supporter steak dinner thrown by Cantor. He beat the machine badly and now being a visible leader against the machine, will be followed and aspired to for guidance of the next wave of populist instead of party candidates.

This will work quite well in a business arena where both parties can see gaining something and are willing to give something in order to gain it.
Not so in politics. The dems want to gain everything and want Americans to lose everything. This includes the GOPe collaborators.

No, you aren’t understanding. In business, both sides do NOT always “gain” and both sides (even if they don’t get it it) are usually trying for 100% victory. They may have to settle.
Politics is not different. What is different is that the negotiator in business-—a manager, or even a CEO-—has to report to a board or someone higher up. Congressmen report to the people . . . but only every two years, and many of them are almost 100% isolated from the people. That’s what is different. All you can do is make them irrelevant, or buy those particular people off. You can’t threaten them with “unelection.”
No, GOP will not lose the house. As angry as some people might be with Republicans, it’s clear they are the only ones even remotely trying to actually serve America.
The veil is off the Dems as anti-American, anti-middle class tyrants. They won’t win again for a long time.
Now, quickly harken back to 2006. Why/how did the GOP lose? They lost because the Dems DRAMATICALLY tried to appear to be sympathetic to middle class values. Jim Webb, for ex., won a senate seat because he was RECRUITED AS A FORMER MILITARY GUY. If you recall, they went out of their way to get vets so as to say, “Hey, we’re patriotic too.” They didn’t run in 2006 on nationalized health care. Barack Obama in 2008 (even though we knew he was lying) ran against homosexual marriage, ran on getting out of Iraq (which was popular then) and other more “traditional” messages. Again, we knew he was lying.
So, no, this won’t seriously harm the GOP, especially if they get taxes right.
Somewhere around the time Obamacare was first being floated, our elected leaders decided it was okay NOT to vote as the folks back home wanted, but to vote as THEY saw fit. They said as much to their constituents at many of the town halls. “I hear you, but I’m going to vote for it anyway.”
That’s the day they publicly broke faith with the public— and the day America became something other than a republic.
