I recently saw where a home-schooled child was the youngest ever to go to the national spelling bee, surprisingly I saw this reported on the mainstream news,
I wonder what effect it would have on liberal school districts if there was an organized withdraw from the school district with parents pooling resources to educate the kids withdrawing. then giving an ultimatum to the school district of changes that need to be made if they want there students back. lets face it a 20 percent drop in students would destroy these school districts
This is simply not possible for most people. They neither have the time, because they are working, nor the expertise to Homeschool. Parochial or church sponsored schools, or other private schools often cost more than college, so this too is not a viable solution. The realistic solution is to demand, and FORCE, immediate changes to the public school systems. As a taxpayer and parent it is your right. Far too often the liberal school hierarchy ride roughshod over parents.
It would force them to adapt or die.
Public schools are fond of teaching evolution. Now they can demonstrate it firsthand.
They have your kids for 8 hours a day, which is a whole chunk of time to inculcate their way of thinking.
Problem is they have done it in such a hidden way that parents, students and even the teachers have no idea how it takes place.
I discovered this aspect of the immorality-amorality teaching in 1984 and kept all four of my children out of public school preferring private school and homeschooling.
Ping.
Not to mention the rampant sexual abuse by teachers in public schools.
” a 20 percent drop in students would destroy these school districts”
Why? Most public schools are financed from property tax revenue. The tax revenue is collected whether or not the parent sends children to public school. If 20% of children left the schools in my county tomorrow, the system would still have the same amount of tax money to use. The superintendent would simply lower class sizes or create more administrative positions if there were excess teachers.
I can’t see the county commissioners forcing budget cuts if enrollment dropped by 20% even if some taxpayers demanded it. They are too afraid of teachers unions, community activists, and the local press.
And to take that a step further, I wonder what would happen If you could be exempt from paying school taxes if you filled out a form proving that your child is homeschooled. I bet the education system might make a few changes after they lost all that revenue.
But what IS the answer when the schools are required to place “dreamers” of indeterminate age (no birth certificates) into the system with American children?
...20 percent drop in students would destroy these school districts.”
Doubt if it would make any difference in most parts of Texas. Understand 45 percent of students are Mexican. ESL classes are the norm. If they were going to homeschool seems like they would have stayed in Mexico. Saw picture of several students walking across the border in Brownville to the U.S. side and getting on a school bus which took them to one of our public schools.
it would not a school district gets X amount of money per child per day he attends. if the child does not attend the money is not given to the school district.
And....Many states the schools budgets are determined according to the number of children who attend daily. This is why in some states truancy is vigorously prosecuted.
There are counties and even whole states where, if Christians and conservatives removed their children, the entire system would utterly collapse. My county and my state is one of them.
It's possible. It's just not convenient. It needs a parent at home rather than earning that second income to pay for a house they can't otherwise afford (mortgage) or a car they can't otherwise afford, or any other pleasant thing more important than their child's education.
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Don't wait for them to step up!
1) Far too many pastors have spouses working in the godless government schools.
2) Far too many pastors refuse to bite the hand putting money in the collection plate. Why? Answer: Because in many counties the government schools are the single largest employer and there are many private businesses that are vendors to the schools. Even my dentist is dependent on the dental insurance that government school employees bring into his office.
Each district has an "alternative" (reform) school, put them there, where there is more police and supervision.
In the meantime each State School Superintendent should petition the Dept of Education for revocation/relief from this 0bama lunacy.
Rather than abandon public schools, work to destroy liberalism in the public school system. Work with conservative legal organizations to bring lawsuits against school administrators and teachers. Teach your children to stand up against liberal indoctrination. Show up to protest at school board meetings. File complaints against the teachers when they try to spread their leftist lies. Bring child abuse charges against teachers and school administrators. There’s lots more one can do to expose the evil of liberals infesting the educational system.
Sounds suspiciously like capitalism. Voluntary consumers, market forces, competition. I'm reporting you, citizen 2001.
School is designed to separate the family. School is like a second family. Why are you crying, sweetheart? You're going to meet your new mommy.
The corrupted education system is an unending cycle of misdirection that keeps people from being productive. Go to school. Graduate. That isn't good enough. Go to college. Graduate. That isn't good enough. Go to postgraduate. Congratulations. You've gone nowhere and done nothing but fed the system. Become a professor.
Education in the US isn't what it use to be.
