Elijah Cummings: Investigate Devin Nunes for compromising investigation's independence (FAKE news)
Washington Examiner ^ | March 23, 2017 | KYLE FELDSCHER

Posted on 03/23/2017 5:38:05 AM PDT by maggief

A top House Democrat is calling for an investigation into House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes for telling the White House about new information that President Trump and his associates might have been caught up in government surveillance.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., said on CNN Thursday that Nunes shouldn't have gone to the press and then briefed Trump about an investigation where Trump is a subject. Cummings said Nunes compromised the independence of his investigation into alleged collusion between Trump's campaign and Russia by doing so.

"The intelligence committee is a very special committee, they are privy to information most of the Congress may never see. You expect them to be extremely confidential," Cummings said.

"What he did was basically to go to the president, who's being investigated by the FBI and others and by the intelligence committee, to give him information. Basically what he has done is he has scuttled and put a cloud over his own investigation, and he has become the subject, basically, or he should be, of his own investigation."

Elijah, time to actually earn your money and find the mole.

He couldn't find the mole if it was on the end of his nose.

It is time for folks to review the chapter of the Federal Criminal Code as it applies to Obstruction of Justice. The following sections are all within Title 18, United State Code -

§ 1501 - Assault on process server

§ 1502 - Resistance to extradition agent

§ 1503 - Influencing or injuring officer or juror generally

§ 1504 - Influencing juror by writing

§ 1505 - Obstruction of proceedings before departments, agencies, and committees

§ 1506 - Theft or alteration of record or process; false bail

§ 1507 - Picketing or parading

§ 1508 - Recording, listening to, or observing proceedings of grand or petit juries while deliberating or voting

§ 1509 - Obstruction of court orders

§ 1510 - Obstruction of criminal investigations

§ 1511 - Obstruction of State or local law enforcement

§ 1512 - Tampering with a witness, victim, or an informant

§ 1513 - Retaliating against a witness, victim, or an informant

§ 1514 - Civil action to restrain harassment of a victim or witness

§ 1514A - Civil action to protect against retaliation in fraud cases

§ 1515 - Definitions for certain provisions; general provision

§ 1516 - Obstruction of Federal audit

§ 1517 - Obstructing examination of financial institution

§ 1518 - Obstruction of criminal investigations of health care offenses

§ 1519 - Destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in Federal investigations and bankruptcy

§ 1520 - Destruction of corporate audit records

§ 1521 - Retaliating against a Federal judge or Federal law enforcement officer by false claim or slander of title

Citizens have long been intimidated by various government officials who use the color of their office to influence the outcome of criminal investigations. Chairman Nunes did the correct thing. He immediately went public with an initial statement - "Found something!"

He informed all that his next stop was the Whitehouse where he informed the chief law enforcement officer of our land of what he had found, then

He made carefully worded comments to the press.

For Mr. Cummings to now suggest that the chairman went off of the reservation shows us all how they want business done in the swamp.

That’s what Democrats do when they are caught breaking the law. It’s always the Republicans’ fault.

When Cummings uses the word “independence”, substitute “Democratic cover-up”, and you’ll understand the real meaning of his statements.

Maybe being in Congress should come with an IQ requirement..of at least 65... Even that low would weed out most members.

Cummings has obstructed every investigation of Democrats he’s been involved in. Look at the transcripts and the interactions between him and Trey Goody, his refusal to concur with subpoenas with anything to do with Hillary, his providing political cover for her ad nauseum. He’s nothing but a political hack to the nth extreme.

Trump requested the investigation and is an ally to the investigators, or doesn’t that matter?
