With the EU Europe has basically established the same sort of tariff protected market the US had up until just after WWI while benefiting from the lack of tariffs on their good coming into the US.

If there's a plan for putting the fear of God in them, it's only going to work after they have to go years fighting a real threat on their own like they did in WWI before we finally came in on their side.

Otherwise they'll just revert to the European socialist mean and start all over.

It's interesting to me how so many people who beat the war drums all the time don't mind funding a socialist country like Israel or lavishly funding NATO to protect Europe from the now nonexistent USSR (and now Russia that has fewer people and a smaller economy than Europe) but between war dances scream about the evils of Socialism.

If we didn't subsidize Socialism in so many places those places would wake up in short order which would benefit both them and us.
