Modern day Europeans are the janitors and clerks of what was once a great civilization. Now, they are well on their way to dhimmitude. No American with any self-respect cares what they think.
America won independance from the U.K., a European power, 240 years and can arguably have been said to surpass the U.K. and most of Europe as a whole by the end of the American Civil War in 1865 just 89 years after decalring independance in 1776. Why would we try to emulate the politics and the philosophy of losers?
