President Trump claimed Friday that House conservatives previously opposed to ObamaCare replacement legislation moving through the chamber are now on board after changes were made an assertion that could be put to the test as early as next week.
The president voiced confidence during a meeting with members of the conservative Republican Study Committee.
We are doing some incredible things I am 100 percent behind this, Trump said, before looking around the room and saying: All of these nos, or potential nos, are all yeses. Every single person sitting in this room is now a yes.
He added, We made certain changes.
Lawmakers at the meeting include Rep. Gary Palmer, a Republican from Alabama, who voted against the plan in a House budget committee vote. One lawmaker said the changes include "work requirements and block grants."
Several participants later confirmed to reporters that those who attended the meeting indeed are now a "yes."
GOP leaders are hoping to push the legislation through the House next week, after the budget committee narrowly approved the Republican legislation on Thursday.
Whether they can will soon become clear. Apparently in a deal-making mode, Trump was trying to offer assurances Friday amid concerns voiced from both the right and center, as well as from Democrats.
Were going to take care of people at all levels, Trump said.

The only change I want is that it be repealed cleanly.
No deals, no changes, no nothing.
Kill it dead! Kill is with fire!
He gave Paul Ryan his chance and Ryan blew it. Now President Donald Trump is also the Speaker of the House.
The Devil is in the details.......................
Were going to take care of people at all levels, Trump said.
Sorry, not the Governments job.
FAKE NEWS.
Those were not conservatives at the meeting. That was the RSC: the ‘centrists’ of the House.
The conservatives haven’t ‘got theirs’ yet.
But they could.
There should not be a replacement. The fed has no business in heath insurance. It needs to go to the states. If Trump does not do this he is finished because he will lose his base.
Yep—this is just going to cement in place the death spiral to the free healthcare market that Obamacare had accelerated.
So they think they can better manage Medicaid? Soon enough they’ll have us all on Medicaid.
You beat me to it!
Correct. I don’t care how many versions they throw up. Conservatives will not vote for it.
My worry is that some democrats WILL vote for it. Along with the RINO’s.
Trump will sign it. And own it. TrumpCare will be as bad (if not worse) as ObamaCare.
And Paul Ryan will have won.
I may be an alarmist, but the purveyors of this bill claim that everything will be “fixed” in two bills that will follow” What happens if these two, as of now mythical, bills fail to pass?
100% ? YES??
Not very ambiguous sounding.
“Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.”
Remember when Republicans used to talk about “replacing” Obamacare with reforms to free up the free market?
Where’s the repeal of the McCarron Ferguson Act?
Why is the gradual removal of the market-distorting tax exemption for employer-provided plans disparaged as a “Cadillac Tax”?
The promised straight up repeal would at least undo the Obama-added harm, without insulting us by claiming that this is a great bill, or that the media are somehow misrepresenting it.
And the big lie, that both the president and congress are colluding on, of course, is that somehow it can’t be repealed with less fewer than 60 GOP senators.
Now President Donald Trump is also the Speaker of the House.
The votes aren’t there to do clean repeal. Did you watch Trump on Tucker last night?
I could see conservatives supporting it with a couple of changes. It would then be too great an improvement over Obmacare not to.
However those changes would be removed by the Senate anyway.
Something isn’t right with this. It has to be repealed - no other if or buts.
