President Trump did not extend his hand to shake German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s in a Friday Oval Office photo op, a courtesy he usually extends to foreign leaders visiting the white House.
Trump sat next to Merkel in front of a fireplace for the brief photo-op.
“Very good,” Trump said to assembled reporters when asked about what the two leaders discussed. “Lots of things.”
“Very good, thanks,” Merkel said in German.
But Trump hardly looked at Merkel and, when the photo op ended, didn’t move in for a handshake.

Etiquette is that a gentlemen never offers his hand to a lady, but will shake hers, if offered.

I think the president is too much a gentleman not to shake the hand of a fellow world leader. He would not snub her like that.
Okay, now I’m being a catty woman, but I really don’t like her pantsuit. I don’t think it’s doing her any favors.

That’s strange. So why are so many, including Drudge saying otherwise about the handshake? I’m not expecting you to answer that. I just wondered what was the purpose of this flimsy lie? We already know they have differences, but all the photos I saw, Donald was acting the perfect gentleman,and Angela seemed to be pretty steady as well.

Angela would probably hear your comment and say “Hmmph! A beautiful dress? Why? I am going to a governmental meeting, not a Senior Prom with an oversized corsage!
Besides, if I wear a ‘beautiful dress’, how can I silently signal that I am “Still with Her” as evidenced through my ill-fitting pantsuit ?
That has always been my belief but I thought there may be exceptions for heads of state.
Who could blame him if he didn’t?
Murk refused to meet with Le Pen, but met with the other candidates in France. She hates Trump, so this would not surprise me.
