Public broadcasting fires back at White House over proposed budget cuts
Yahoo News ^ | March 16th, 2017 | Christopher Wilson

PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting have pushed back against a White House budget proposal that would drastically cut, or eliminate entirely, funding to the organizations as part of a major realignment of fiscal priorities that includes a big increase in defense spending.

“PBS and our nearly 350 member stations,” said a statement released Thursday, “along with our viewers, continue to remind Congress of our strong support among Republican and Democratic voters, in rural and urban areas across every region of the country. We have always had support from both parties in Congress, and will again make clear what the public receives for federal funding for public broadcasting. The cost of public broadcasting is small, only $1.35 per citizen per year, and the benefits are tangible: increasing school readiness for kids 2-8, support for teachers and homeschoolers, lifelong learning, public safety communications and civil discourse.”

The statement also cites one poll showing that only 21 percent of Americans (32 percent of Republicans) favor ending public broadcasting support, and another that found 70 percent of Trump voters (and 83 percent of Americans overall) saying they want Congress to find savings elsewhere.

My children watched Sesame Street when it first started. It was OK then.

Now they have a homosexual arrangement with a couple of the characters. If I had children today, they wouldn’t be allowed to watch it.

I say, “Defund PBS! Why should we pay for democrat propaganda?”

“I don’t believe Americans support the elimination of public funding for Sesame Street or the Metropolitan Opera on Saturday mornings.”

Nice bait, but I think most Americans are willing to give up Saturday morning opera if it means we don’t have to pay for NPR’s 24-7 lefty propaganda.

So they DO think they have Republican viewers/listeners. Sure don’t act like it.

Here we go with the Sesame Street bull**** again. Toddlers don’t have time to watch Sesame Street anymore. They are too busy being pressured by their parental units to decide which sex they want to be.

Sesame Street alone can pay its own way commercially and have much left over to support the propagandists.

All they need to do is propose where else to cut to keep their funding.

It’s called balancing a budget.

New Sesame St episodes first air on HBO then PBS 9 months later.
There are so many choices out there.NPR and PBS should not get tax money, especially given their bias.

In this day and age of thousands of channels of media, satellite, internet, terrestrial radio and tv, and that virtually everyone including the poor carry around an internet capable computer, and given the fact that “Public Broadcasting” in all its forms is nothing but a propaganda wing of the DNC/Socialist party, there is no compelling reason whatsoever for them to receive so much as a penny of public funding. Also, those high in the PB foodchain have done quite well on the public teat. Time to pull that plug.

I support the immediate termination of public funding for leftist propaganda.

How can the United States government virtually own a news broadcasting organization? That’s Soviet Union stuff. I can’t believe there is such a thing as PBS in our country.
