The vast majority of federal sentences for marijuana crimes went to Hispanics last year, according to new data from the U.S. Sentencing Commission.
Hispanics were widely overrepresented with 77 percent of federal marijuana sentences, despite making up less than 20 percent of the U.S. population.
Non-Hispanic whites were dramatically underrepresented, with 11.9 percent of pot sentences, and African-Americans were also underrepresented with 8.3 percent.

What is their percentage of arrests compared to whites? What is their conviction ratio? What is the ratio for non-latinos?

Well, one way to address this is for courts to start sentencing suburban, middle and upper class white kids who deal weed to longer sentences. I wouldn’t mind that at all. I suspect that the liberal parents of these kids would go crazy if that happened, but there is some truth to the accusation that suburban white kids who deal or possess pot get off lightly compared to poor Latinos and blacks.
Nothing new. Back in the early 1960s I knew a woman teacher from Texas and she said that back when she was a young teacher, 1930s-1950s, that the Mexicans in her area would smoke marajuana and get mean.
Even Frank J Dobie, in his books mentioned the Mexicans smoking MJ even earlier.
Which is why we should tax pot to build the wall...
When I was in high school one of my friends whose family was from Ireland went back there over the summer to visit their cousins. In Dublin they ran into some guy whose family must have migrated there a generation earlier from Africa. He freaked out because he had never heard a black person speaking with an Irish brogue before in his life. LMAO.
Guess we’re still not doing enough....

I read something by Frank J Dobie years ago. I believe he referred to the Mexican workers as “wet Mexicans” and it was obvious he meant no disrespect. It was just a fact.

True. I lived around lots of wetbacks back then. The local Spanish US citizen highly resented being called a wetback.
Duh. Criminal sentences aren't passed out according to percentage of the populations, but rather on being convicted of crimes. Something that US Spews doesn't want you to think about. I suspect that Hispanics (illegals) are underrepresented if you look at the proportion of crimes they commit
