Live in Northern NJ and we are getting slammed. Crazy wind and about a foot of snow - still coming down hard. Think they were off by a few miles but we are in the thick of it. Nothing at the beach 70 miles south.
temperatures are borderline ... a degree or 2 colder and the prediction was right on ... most of it was freezing rain and ice ...
Weather man and Politician. Two positions you can be wrong 3/4 of the time and keep your job.
They’re just trying to justify their existence.
Weather forecasting: observing what is going on in the heavens in order to determine the reality on the ground.
In a ‘sign of Jonas’ kind of way. Nowadays they can’t even get the weather right.

I blame the weather channel, ever since they started calling storms and giving them a name.
It seems like every storm with a name gets overblown, sorta like naming Hurricanes, then the storms don't live up to the 'hype'.
While I realize that a geographical variance can affect weather dynamics, it seems so much more pronounced now with mass communication.
That mass communication is represented in dollars of advertising to the weather community, after all, the science is already settled , ..rite ?
Weather is a chaotic system, and nor’easters are notoriously fickle. A few miles one way or the other can be the difference between getting dumped on to a historic degree and next to nothing.
It’s almost all about on air time. The more catastrophic the forecast is, the more air time the meteorologists will get.
Don’t think it’s bland and I think he’s right and it’ gotten to the point o absurd.

Not an over reaction. 18 inches AT LEAST in NYC were predicted across the board.
I don’t give a #### that they were right somewhere else.

In our case, NOAA said the Poconos could get as much as 17 inches yesterday. Now they are saying possibly twice that.
I know I have already shoveled 15” or so off our deck.
They need to quit messing around with climate change and tend to the business of forecasting the weather.
Think of the money you saved on snow removal.
My relative cancelled her appt today because they said 4-8 inches. There is ZERO snow. 4-8 I can deal with, but my relative gets scared in car so we stay home. This is all Obama’s fault. He hired hacks and blacks, and we all suffer till Trump purges.

Looks like we’re getting here about 50 miles north of NYC.
White out conditions with blowing and drifting snow. Can’t see my neighbors house at times with the 40-50 MPH wind gusts.
Looks like a good one.
And in SoCal we have STORMWATCH!!!! every time it drizzles.
