Trump administration disagrees with CBO report on health care

The Trump administration on Monday lashed out at the Congressional Budget Office’s report that estimated that about 24 million more Americans in a few years would be uninsured under the new legislation.

The bill, called the American Health Care Act, would be “less generous” with new tax credits for those receiving subsidies under the current law and the plan would likely increase average premiums in the nongroup market until 2020.

Tom Price, the Health and Human Services secretary, downplayed the report and said, “we disagree strenuously with the report that was put out. It’s just not believable is what we would suggest.”

The CBO report, compiled along with staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation, also determined that the Republicans’ American Health Care Act would save money for taxpayers. According to the study, it would reduce federal deficits by $337 billion from 2017 to 2026.

Repeal Obamacare, throw out RinoCare, and eliminate suing hospitals and doctors. Remove any barrier for interstate healthcare. Free market solves this problem.

“I actually voted for Obama in 2008 and then voted for Trump in November. I left the democratic party...”

Policy wise, I don’t think you have left the democratic party. Why do you support polishing the turd? RinoCare is polishing Obamacare. Is that what you want conservatives to be? Socialists?

“Figuring out how to rescind now established government benefits, especially expanded Medicaid”

Ryan caps the expansion of medicaid. He doesn’t rescind established benefits.

Opposition to the Ryan plan can be divided in two camps:

1- Pure libertarians who want to repeal Medicaid (Ryan repeals the Obamacare mandate/taxes and only caps the expansion of Medicaid)

2- People like you who receive Medicaid subsidies and don’t want to see them cut.

Ryan doesn’t cut benefits. Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Levin, Beck, etc want to slash all benefits now.

For them the choices are slash all benefits now or keep Obamacare as is until it “implodes”.

But the “implosion” that they are expecting won’t be reported on TV. It will be millions of people dying quietly and prematurely because of healthcare costs.

Repeal what’s possible now and live to fight another day.

I wish I wouldn’t need to repost this, but I think this sentence from the article is important and many seem to miss it.

“According to the CBO, the projected loss in insurance coverage is related mostly to a provision repealing penalties associated with the ACA’s requirement to buy insurance. ”

It is not the government's responsibility to provide health insurance to people......try telling that to liberals...they think health care should be an entitlement.

Saw the Speaker saying this (Newt Gingrich Says the Congressional Budget Office Is 'Corrupt' and Should Be Abolished)....maybe the Trump people do also....CBO was in charge of the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.

You have to get a bill through the senate. Trump can’t force the 5-6 RINOs there to vote for a clean repeal.

People who can count do. In fact, if you’re depending on a program, you want someone who can make it work, not run it into the ground.

Hyperbole much? Even before Obamacare, 70% of the federal budget was going to entitlements - of which medical was roughly half. Yes, this is more socialism than pre-Obamacare but not that much more. Medicare Part D expansion was just as large under W.

If you want real free market healthcare reform you need to require pricing transparency, allow reimportation of drugs, and have massive patent reform. None of which will happen due to the medical industry.

Ryan caps Medicaid. Yeah, at unsustainable levels. Oh, joy.

I don’t know what Trump is pulling here, I am assuming that his treasonous predecessor Barry intentionally put ObamaScamOcare into such a tangle that it’s going to take a while to unravel and rather than do it all at once, Trump is moving cautiously.

I am sure you are describing some of the calculus of Trump and Ryan.

CBO = Their calculations are carried out by lobbyists. New program - project low cost (lie). Cut program - project high cost and calamity.(lie)

That is exactly correct. They said Obama care would be cheap, but now they say cutting it will "cost" us Trillions.

Sure.

This bill does NOTHING about NO medical for illegals NOTHING we tax payers STILL give medical to people who are NOT citizens of this country!!!

True.

We are not citizens to people like Ryan, Schumer, Peloisi, Warren, and McConnell - - but their slaves.

We are to "provide" for thieves, invaders, takers, complainers, and cheats.

How did he lash out, tweetley dee about it? According to the study, it would reduce federal deficits by $337 billion from 2017 to 2026.

This is a small start, drop in the bucket, spit in the wind, but I have to say a start or the supporters of the bill here will jump me. Congress would spend these savings up in 18 days and we are talking of saving this over a 10 year period.

I agree with you, it is not the governments responsibility to provide health care insurance only to see that the laws around health care are regulated for fairness and that it is not monopolized like the Government is trying to do with SINGLE PAYER.

Those people aren’t kicked off their Health Insurance, they CHOOSE not to purchase it.

Shocking isn't it? What kind of country lets its citizens make decisions for themselves?
