Steel yourself: It's nearly time to turn our clocks forward an hour for the start of daylight-saving time (DST).
This arcane and terrible ritual officially starts on March 13, 2016.
At 1:59 a.m. on Sunday morning, our clocks will wind forward an hour to 3:00 a.m. instead of 2:00 a.m.
That gives us one less hour of sleep and means the sun will rise an hour later than we're used to.

No arcane law ever gets repealed. Daylight savings has served no useful purpose for 50 years.
Relevancy is in the eye of the beholder.
There is nothing stopping the ‘world’ from accommodating different school hours during the year, or work hours for that matter. It’s a matter of how much you are willing to inconvenience others for some.
I’ve spent some time where the sun is either mostly near ‘up’ or ‘down’ for a part of the year. I don’t think the residents there care much about DST one way or the other.
In the end it is preference. To me it makes no difference, really. So if it makes you feel better, then by all means let’s all accommodate it.
Whatever, just leave the damn clocks alone.
I happen to like DST. At least the extra hour of daylight in the evening.
Thank goodness I only have two analog clocks now. The most bothersome ones were the clock on the stove and microwave, but they are now easily adjustable. My internal clock still keeps working on its own time, however.
The military, in all where our young men and women are, use what has been called:
Greenwich mean time,
Universal coordinated time,
Zulu time,
U.T.C.
Since most of our supermarket produce is no longer seasonal, and no longer from ONLY American farms, it is ludicrous to remain on DST.

At least the timechange comes on a Sunday morning, and this year, on a full moon.
Now, get your smartphones at the ready, to witness Christian love expressed by hurried, late, and cannot park in their preferred spot, parishioners.

- Move the time for 6 am back to the current time for 3 am in each time zone
- This will shift everything, so that you come home from work in what is the current early afternoon
- Then you can enjoy hot and bright sunshine for hours, and hours, and hours

Leave the clocks alone, and quit trying to play God. No one is "giving" us more light.

Someone with a thought process. Thank you. DST originated to benefit the food harvest by allowing kids home from school to assist when it was still daylight. Just set the dang time and leave it. The change is stressful and detrimental to millions of people.

When they shortened the winter session to 4 months a few years ago, that made it even more ridiculous. One hardly has time to adjust until the clocks have to be changed.
I vote for selecting a time [+1 or -1 hour] and leave it there. We can adjust to it getting dark and getting light.
Which we don't need anymore.
It actually has had a weird and strange past, with every justification from war, to shopping, to farming, to recreation, and every other excuse known to mankind.
My least favorite day of the year.

Yes, kids go to school in the dark in the winter. What’s the problem with that?

I have no problem with DST in the summer months when the kids are out of school, but this almost year long thing has to go.
