Considering what the intent of that landmark statue signifies, I have high suspicions the “darkness” was intentional.
I’m calling it ‘Celebration of Female Irresponsibility’ day. In my county, all the schools were closed, and they made the decision late in the day, giving parents little time to make arrangements.

Considering Edward Bernays “Torches of Freedom” stunt, first publicity stunt that had rebel women hold up a cigarette “spontaneously” during a parade to declare their freedom and simulate the Liberty’s torch, combined with the stunt of the women at the Trump speech last week dressing in white to mimic suffragettes of that same ilk and era, I am guessing the Hillary ongoing hilarity could be behind this as a stunt related to the “women’s strike” of today. I think the cigarette brand held high might even have been “Lucky STRIKE”. Ha ha and too cute by half like Hilary’s idea for the “Donald Duck” during the campaign. Idgets.

In any case, these are Messianic symbols on Lady Liberty. The crown (keter, the highest of the sefirot and revelation of the infinite light) and the torch (light, flame; see Obadiah 1:18).
Recall the incident of August 23, 2001, when the paraglider stuntman got himself snagged up on the torch, such that the SOL appeared to be waving a red flag. Then along came 911.

Back in the 80’s when Lady Liberty celebrating her 100th birthday, she badly in need of a makeover.
At the time, I was Activities Director in a Kosher Nursing Home, where nearly all the residents were either Immigrants who came in through New York City, or Holocaust Survivors (or both!)
Through bake sales, craft sales, and sale of a coloring book of Jewish Holidays, we raised several THOUSAND dollars to help with the refurbishment of the statue that greeted them when they came to America.
And, they were ALL documented, legal, Naturalized Citizens, and/or Veterans.
There is NOTHING wrong with legal, respectful, and orderly immigration.

The dark side intentionally conflates alien interlopers with genuine, liberty-loving immigrants. As if a person is an American merely by taking up space on the soil and breathing the same air. Or that demanding free stuff (produced by others) is the same as wanting to be free.

There’s the positive light on the Obama Oppression. Obama has done (and continues to do) a great service to humanity by jump-starting the Messianic Era and bringing his own kingdom to a swift, humiliating end.
He at least deserves a smiley sticker and a pat on the head before he’s booted headlong into the Abyss. Along with his bride too - Aunt, er Anti-Esther. If we are approaching the end of this age, and I'm afraid we are, no other nation exemplifies the characteristics of "Mystery/Daughter of Babylon" like this nation does at present.
