'Idiotic' flash mob disrupts Center City

Ridiculous. Idiotic. Inexplicable.

That’s how Police Commissioner Richard Ross described a disruptive flash mob that descended upon Center City Monday night, as hundreds of teenagers caused chaos around City Hall at about 5:30 p.m.

Ross said Tuesday that some estimates pinned the number of participants around 1,000, most of whom seemed to show up because of information circulating on social media. About 20 teens were cited for disorderly conduct, Ross said, while at least four were being investigated for assaulting about a half-dozen other teens in the group.

A thousand. That is a lot of youths for a flash mob situation. It is probably some kind of miracle that no one was hurt. That number would seem to justify riot police, IMHO.
