FBI Director James Comey was “incredulous” after President Trump claimed former President Barack Obama wiretapped him during the presidential race, according to a new report.
Comey was concerned Trump’s allegations would make the FBI look bad, a person familiar with the matter told CNN Monday.
“[Comey feels] institutionally he has to push back on this,” CNN’s source said, citing the magnitude of Trump’s accusations and Comey’s certainty they are untrue.
It was reported over the weekend that the FBI had asked career personnel at the Department of Justice (DOJ) to publicly dismiss Trump's allegations, which so far has not happened. A U.S. official CNN that Comey was aware of the talks between the FBI and DOJ but did not participate in them.
“[Comey] might come out and say only time will tell, but right now [the FBI and DOJ] should be in the exact same place and they’re not,” the person familiar with the matter told CNN Monday.
“Does he know of possibility there might be a confrontation and be fired by the president? Sure,” the source added of Comey. "Does he worry about it? No.”
Comey is reportedly frustrated that the DOJ has not pushed back against Trump's claims and is looking for a way for the Justice Department and the FBI to dispute the allegations.

I don’t think there is anything in the entire history of the FBI that would make it look worse than it did when Director Comey let Hillary Clinton slide on all her crimes. For months the Facebook FBI page was brimming full of comments saying how disgusting the FBI was. Comey did that.
The media are playing stupid, as if Trump meant that Obama personally did the wiretap, as if Obozo would even know how. What Trump obviously meant is that the Obama administration was wiretapping his associates and his campaign and, thus, for all practical purposes, Trump himself.
trump has got the whole Washington inside elite spinning in circles trying to figure out what to do or say next...

Trump is 5 steps ahead of the whole kit and kaboodle....

Government heads are not speaking right now. And due to the sensitivity of this, they won’t. Trump knows exactly who wire tapped him, and the guilty parties know he knows. This is going to blow up like an atom bomb and take out some people, question is will it reach Obama?

Excuse me but the FBI is not the only agency that can do this. News reports say there WERE warrants. Who the hell is Comey to be personally affronted? That’s not in his job description.

DOJ doesn’t do the actual tapping. So who actually tapped if not FBI electronic surveillance techs who are underneath Comey?
Or maybe they sucked up the surveillance data through an ongoing NSA hoover program, and got the warrant just to launder the data, which is what NSA whistleblower Binney is suggesting.

I agree, at least I’m willing to admit I have no idea what’s going on and that theory is as plausible as any other.
Separating what we “think” from what we “know”, it’s pretty safe to say we know the media is at war with Trump and will do anything to damage hiis administration. If we know this, certainly Trump and his team do too, and must necessarily think about every word they say or release to the press, knowing how it will be used against them.
Comey is a player in this game, and it’s premature to say with certainty what his words mean and how much is his own initiative and how much is a role that has been scripted for him. I do beleive there are wheels turning that we aren’t even aware of (those of “us” who are not “LS”, that is!)
In the end I think we will see a plot that makes a Clancy novel look predictable by comparison.
Get a clue Comey, the last 6-8 months have made the FBI look real bad and it had NOTHING to do with Trump. But were you concerned about credibility and ethics back then? HELL NO! So shut your mouth, and do your damn job the way its supposed to be done. Or you'll be looking for a new job.
Democrats don’t understand that sense of accountability the rest of humanity understands and accepts as part of life. For a typical democrat, just because Obama is the titular head of the DOJ and the FBI, doesn’t necessarily mean he’s responsible ultimately for what they do during working hours. Only the good stuff he needs to take credit for. All that other stuff . . . .? Well, he just learned about it in the funny papers like us.
