Sessions recused himself from investigating Russian collusion with the Trump campaign, more or less.

He is completely available to investigate anything related to charges that Obama illegally wiretapped US citizens and/or political enemies; or, knowing about it, failed to squelch it.

Are you a worry-wart, or misinformed, or a troll, btw?

Not only is Trump not doing this in a vacuum ... I suspect he's doing a lot of this behind the scenes through very accomplished and reputable players operating outside the U.S. government.

Oh -- lookie here, folks ...

I was on my phone but wanted to say more on this.

We don't know exactly WHY they ran this probe because I don't believe for one second they believed they were going to "lose". Oh, I think they knew they were losing just as I tihnk they knew they were losing in 2012. But, they had all the mechanisms in place to steal the election, just like 2012, and I am sure they were confident they'd get another stolen victory.

That said, maybe they wanted information on alt-right groups they were convinced Trump was in contact with so they could squash them like they did the tea party. There aren't any organized groups on the alt-right but they don't understand the alt-right or how it works. So who knows, we can only speculate.

What we can safely surmise is that they never believed they were going to lose so they weren't too worried about getting caught. At the most, what could happen--all hat Gowdy might run some uni-party show trials. They've been brazenly breaking the law for 8+ years with no consequence.

Let's hope they were sloppy in their arrogance and left lots of loose ends.

I agree that a Grand Jury would be more effective but it is also much more secretive.

Congressional hearings are much more open to the public. If they have half a brain the republicans can smoke out some low level dems that the dems are willing to sacrifice and keep this in the news through the mid terms.

President Trump probably knows he will never pin any crime on the Kenyan klown but he can control the news for a year with what is already known.
He puts Obama and congress on defense.

There are a couple of roads he can take at this point.
If congress proves as ineffective as we believe it to be he can call for a special prosecutor.
I think he is going this route to mute any criticism that he is acting like a dictator, a charge the left is already using.

What I really want to see is this causing some dems to not only admit the humanity of their godling Barack Obama but to have them urinate on his “legacy”.
Rats deserting a sinking ship and all that.

The FISA court that ostensibly turned down and then approved this pre election surveillance was reportedly comprised of three Clinton appointees. Does a federal grand jury have standing and authority to force that FISA court to produce the requests and submitted evidence on which it made its rulings ?

I would think Congress, which can impeach a president or a judge, certainly must.

Just look at the headlines by the same news organizations after Trump alluded to the state of affairs in Sweden.

After a few days the stories switched to how bad the situation actually was in Sweden.

Nobody likes the idea of the government wire-tapping Americans for political reasons. And every leak we have heard about Russians in the election had to be based on wire-taps. Now it is time for the public to find out who ordered those wire-taps, and why. If there aren't wire-taps, then the whole story about the Russians "hacking the election" by the Democrats and the media is a giant lie.

If there are wire-taps, then there were probably multiple violations of the law by those involved in seeking FISA warrants, doing the wire-tapping, and disclosing the information they obtained. Even disclosing that surveillance is occurring is probably a felony since FISA warrants are almost certainly classified.

I just posted this observation:

I am all for pursuing this as far as it will go and that is why I call for a grand jury instead of, or perhaps in parallel with, a congressional investigation.

I suggested the possibility of a parallel congressional investigation because it does offer publicity value and the main idea, since Obama is out of office, is to exploit the situation for the 2018 election and that will be hard to do working on leaks from a special prosecutor rather than from the drama of televised congressional hearings.

The problem with congressional hearings as we all know is the grandstanding by Republicans who will not work as a United team resulting in fiascoes. Moreover, the Republican leadership is likely to back off from pursuing very important pieces of the puzzle claiming that they are interfering with the criminal investigation. Finally, the congressional investigation can taint the criminal investigation and the issue of whether to offer congressional immunity in exchange for testimony has to be balanced against the desire to pursue the criminal case.

All of these things are matters to be balanced and there is no clear answer, especially in advance and especially when we do not know much of the facts that are presumably in possession of Trump

I wouldn’t trust Congress or the DOJ as far as I could throw ‘em. Trump should convene an outside, independent investigation and give it some TEETH (any 5th, ‘can’t find’...ala IRS, delay in procedure\production of requests\etc. = immediate termination).

Clinton used his power of office to deny a Citizen their day in court, perjured himself and the WORST that happened was a loss of law license and a ‘fine’?! Us pleebs get worse for jay-walking.

Govt is too big and too many skeletons of CYA to trust anything to the den of thieves. Saw it too often in the (R) committee ‘hearings’ (blah blah blah for 3 yrs, $$$$ and...NOTHING).

Trump fights back after they came for Sessions a few days ago.

Some say there should be an “Arab Spring” investigation but that would expose Congress and Obama and Hillary, McCain, Graham etc. etc. to total incrimination over the real ‘foreign influence’ on our political system coming from Saudi Arabia and the Muslim Brotherhood etc. etc..

They want to blame Russia as a distraction.

I would think the article 3 court system would resolutely oppose any such power to review the data or the reasoning of the FISA court. The Congress certainly has the power of impeachment but it does not, in my view at least, have the power of review or even of investigation of the coequal branch of government.

I stand educated on this, though.

1. Trump throws bombs.
2. Riles up media.
3. Puts Dems on defense.
4. Calls for an investigation.
5. Releases statement: No further comment while under investigation.

That’s Trump. LOL!

OR: they knew that Trump would replace whoever Obama appointed in succession, so they just reversed it, knowing the real person they wanted would be selected by Trump.

Obama and Valerie are sly and they have been able to get away with so much over 8 yrs. Iran deal, the billions of dollars given away and not a word from Republicans, no investigations, no prosecutions. But Repubs eat their own, like Flynn, Sessions at the mere hint of something wrong.

One thing everyone should remember and reinforce when the Tapping of communications by Obama’s crew is descussed in the fact that they hacked Senate Staff P.C.s (Remember the Diane Finestien spat) a year or so ago
Also the attempt at hacking into the State of Georgia’s voting rolls traced back to a Federal Government server last fall!

This wiretap charge is the touchstone to opening up 50 different cases of RAT fraud/crime. 30mil Berners would be glued to proceedings on the DNC and Seth Rich alone. There’s a huge market-based solution/opportunity here to force the MenSeekingMen off their perpetual attack by turning CSPAN into the TrueCrime Channel!

Now that the gloves are off and the shackles untied, what would you think about Trey Gowdy from SC taking this on?

I would like to know who you would trust to go forward on this.

They’ve been brazenly breaking the law for 8+ years with no consequence.

The way zero was able to achieve this is by taking over enforcement - FBI and grievance group protection - and prosecution - Holder and judges dismissing/overturning cases - and the only way to reverse it is for Trump to take out the big dogs, McCabe being the first. When he goes and retribution for testifying against him goes out the window, this dam zero built in the river of justice will collapse.

I’m beginning to believe that the reason they’re so convinced that the election was hacked is because their own hacks making a Hillary victory certain imploded and they have no other explanation.

That is certainly true. The campaign of the left was punked.

Why is obviously on the table now. They did it to themselves.

This is how liberals work. If you find their activity and keep it to yourself you will win every single time.

They run with conspiracy, lies, deception and fraud. They use every avenue available to win. They do not have one idea to make your life better.
