NYT Op-Ed Claims Internet ‘Threatens Democracy’ by Bypassing the Establishment Class
Breitbart ^ | March 3, 2017 | By Allum Bokhariy

Posted on 03/04/2017 4:09:43 PM PST by Brad from Tennessee

The New York Times has published an article from opinion columnist and academic Thomas B. Edsall blaming the Internet for the collapse of establishment authority.

Arguing that the Internet “threatens Democracy,” Edsall openly concedes that he believes the freedom unleashed by the Internet to be a threat to the establishment; to its norms and language codes

"As the forces of reaction outpace movements predicated on the ideal of progress, and as traditional norms of political competition are tossed aside, it’s clear that the internet and social media have succeeded in doing what many feared and some hoped they would. They have disrupted and destroyed institutional constraints on what can be said, when and where it can be said and who can say it."

This is a rare moment of honesty from a mainstream commentator: up until now, the panicked, clumsy attempts to roll back freedom of speech on the web have advanced in disguise. Campaigns to reintroduce the language codes in the anarchic realm of the web have been concealed behind seemingly neutral concerns about “online harassment,” “trolling,” and “abuse.” Edsall, by contrast, doesn’t obfuscate. He straightforwardly admits that it’s really free speech on the web that concerns him. Good for him. . .

NYT lamenting the fact that the Internet makes it more difficult for them to spread their propaganda and lies-oh that’s rich! More winning!

This needs a little editing to aid in our understanding of this brilliant analysis. I'm pretty busy but I'll get us started. Edits are shown in bold.

"As the forces of reaction AKA Freepers, Breitbart, Drudge, various Tea Party Scum and the like outpace movements predicated on the ideal of progress and our dreamed of workers paradise, and as traditional Marxist/socialist norms of political competition are tossed aside, it’s clear that the internet and social media have succeeded in doing what many feared and some hoped they would. "

I wonder if he even took the “Question Authority” sticker off his Prius before writing this?

A way for the power to be taken from the establishment and given to the people was the dream of Leftists since the late 1960s. Now they have it and discover to their dismay that the people don’t agree with THEM and we are taking our power elsewhere.

Validates just what I have been saying and writing about for the past 20 years. WE have been ruled by a Mediacracy.

Now, there is enough new media to overcome their power.

Basically Trump is going right past the media to get his message out. Like today’s story of Obama wire tapping Trump Towers. The media hates it. Hahahahaha

Does "language codes" refer to the MSM power to refer to things exactly as they want? Case in point: They are "pro-choice" but we are "anti-abortion." They do not use the term "pro-life." Oh how I laugh when I think that the left invented the term FAKEnews themselves, not even realizing that it meant themselves.

The media has lost most of their power.... and they know it!

They threw everything they had at Trump and then some, yet he was still elected President.

Now they want to control the Internet because they are losing.

They have to get control of the internet or they will lose. If they can't control the political narrative the low information voters won't cast their votes as directed and instead will cast their votes in all sorts of directions (they are idiots, after all,) effectively cancelling them out and leaving the decisions to be made solely between the left wing ideologues on one side and us (traditional Americans.) A fair fight in other words.

35-40 years ago elitist scumbags like this were driving around in battered rusted out Volvos and VW's that were held together with these bumper stickers, along with a few "I read banned books" stickers for good measure. Even a young punk like myself realized how full of shiite they were back then.

So the establishment class determines? And just who is the establishment class and who designates who’s in it?
