True that the stupid “my side sits while your side gives standing O’s” thing is WAY overdone with every one of these speeches, but the Dems last night took that kabuki theater thing to absurd new lengths.”
The whole thing is kabuki theater. Congress and the President are supposed to be equal branches of government, so having the executive come down to have a platform and be an honored guest at the Capitol and give a speech that the Congresspeople are supposed to clap and cheer for no matter what is totally inappropriate. It would make Mickey MOuse look presidential.
Good for Trump for getting kudos, but this SOTU speech nonsense is always used at a tool to improve optics, and it goes for both sides. Best example is Bill Clinton (the rapist) using it to hit the reset button after his perjury/sex scandal broke in 1998. After that performance it was obvious he was going to weasel his way out of that.
The proof is in the results. Congress needs to get off its ass and start working with Trump to pass the legislation necessary to move the country forward. They have had 2 months to get their act together. Where is the legislation?

BUT, for the people who haven’t seen him live and unfiltered by CNN, he did the perfect thing - he toned down some things as to stay in a more positive light and not give any ammo to the left. For example, he said we are starting the wall build, but he didn’t say, ‘and Mexico will pay for the wall’. He left out the more controversial campaign style remarks and probably converted some low info and democrat voters that have been in the media fog since the election!

I agree with you! He did a very good job, and was “presidential”.
I would agree that the speech was well delivered, but for me it contained way too many bows to the left (E.g. starting off with a hosanna to "Black History Month.") and a lot of talk about increased government spending on health care, the military, and infrastructure. I thought it a bit scary.

Why yes he did. He was practicing on the ride over from the White House. The pool cameras got a shot of him doing it. Trump works hard... harder than anyone I have seen in my life. That hard work and his obvious genius level intellect are amazing to watch. His wealth is well deserved. We are lucky/blessed to have him working for us.
He also explained, for the benefit of those (libs) who don’t get it, WHY he was planning to do what he was planning to do.
The libs have always made great use of people in the gallery with tear-jerker stories. (Poor little girl without health insurance, etc.) Trump did exactly the same thing (because appeal to emotion is apparently the only thing that registers with lefties) by having victims of illegals in the gallery. It’s much harder for them to argue with that. You want more parents whose children were murdered by illegals?

My two year old granddaughter acts more mature than the dems did at the state of the union speech the other night...
They wore white.... I thought that was a group of nurses there to support repeal of Obamacare... LOL

The good thing is people are getting tired of it in droves.
