Senate Dems Facing Tough 2018 Races Avoid Town Halls
Daily Caller ^ | 2/27/2017 | Kerry Pickett

Town halls centered around rowdy crowds disrupting Republican members of Congress grabbed headlines recently, but certain Senate Democrats facing tough reelection races next year have avoided in-person town halls in their own states all together.

The Associated Press reported Friday Democratic Sens. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, Bill Nelson of Florida, Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Joe Manchin West Virginia all decided against going to town halls to speak to and answer questions from their constituents, preferring to communicate through tele-town halls, e-mail opinion surveys, social media and speeches.

Missouri Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill declined an invitation from the liberal organization Indivisible, which has been organizing protesters to crash Republican Congress members’ town halls, to attend a town hall organized by the group’s Kansas City chapter. McCaskill instead sent a staffer to the town hall. Trump won McCaskill’s state by 19 percentage points over Hillary Clinton. She is scheduled to talk to voters this upcoming week on Facebook live.

I hope we can pick up 8 senate seats in 2018. I don’t know if that is possible but I’m sure hoping we can pull it off. Anyone know how many seats we have to defend?

It would be nice to pick up some of the Republican seats as well, but that will require good people to win in the primaries.

Folks - We got to do more than vote in 2018 like we did in 2016. The war is not over, so we need to take control and do what we can. Make phone calls, ring doorbells. Same drill that got Trump elected. I challenge all Freepers to do something beside vote. Go out and find 2 more voters.

Sherrod Brown in OH is vulnerable. Except that the OH establishment ‘pubs will probably choose someone who won’t inspire Trump voters to vote Sherrod Brown out of office.

But, but, but I read that Gabby Giffords was chastising Congresscritters for avoiding Townhall meetings! Did she just mean Republican Congresscritters? /s

In 2018 the seats in play are:

Senate - 8 Republican; 25 Democrat

Constituents are certainly the ‘boss’ for Conservatives....I have always doubted it that is the same dynamic for Democrats.

Maybe THEIR constituents really ARE the boss... but third in line behind the MSM and Big Labor!!

Most importantly, DJT has to scour the statehouses in the states where the 8 RAT senators are vulnerable to get MAGA guys to run against them before the Uniparty selects more RINOs to be the candidate. I doubt House repubs currently in office can be trusted.

Gotta get to about 72 to overcome the Collinses, the McTurds, the Grahams. You really need 70 CONSERVATIVES who have courage. Good luck.

We are going to have to do this without that type of majority. Just won’t happen. You have to get close, then pressure the hell out of Manchin, Heitkamp, some of the waffler RINOs.

Odd. Why isn't VFNN's Jake the Fake all over this story?

Is it because network news is Very Fake News?

leave the Republicans to screw it up. We already lost a seat in Delaware....tomorrow there are two seats up in Connecticut that we should be working to win....one pretty easily and one difficult but at least GOP should try to win both. It will make the difference on who leads the state senate. Right now it is tied.

Bob Casey, always avoids the public, he has the personality of drywall... he only got elected on his fathers name, and re-elected during an Obama year.. Had he been on the ballot in November he would have been gone....

Provided TRUMP delivers, and R’s put up a good candidate, Casey will be voted out.

Provided Trump remotely delivers.... and Dems continue this obstruct and scream and act like children... R’s very likely could pick up 8.... map is completely in their favor in 18. Just have to get voters engaged in an off year election and show up.

As long as Trump delivers, and the D’s keep acting like petulant children, this should be automatic. If Trump doesn’t deliver, and republicans in congress obstruct or stall etc... Then it won’t.
