The point is clear communication with others. Precision and consistancy in grammar sharpens ideas. Everyone speaks from the same rule book and can understand one another better.
Imagine the confusion when one or two members of the group start speaking with nonsense pronouns to hide meaning or create sentences that jumble word relationships.

A college or university that has substantive control over its public image makes sure that all the subordinate units coordinate with administration officials on public release of information about the University as a whole.
I know very well what a college or university “center” (as in the Writing Center that released this) can often be. I’ve seen them from just on person as a point of contact for some specialized initiative or a program. Regardless, rogue center proponents can sometimes bypass protocol and do their own branding and publicizing.
The story is out on this one, but I expect the University will get some blowback on this and it will have to rein in this “Center.”
The more colleges keep turning out over-taught but under educated idiots the greater the opportunity for normal people who look and act in a civil manner and who can speak and write intelligibly.

But let’s not mention the profound racism inherent in refusing to teach children standard American English. The motivation in refusing to teach them is racist and demeaning (based in the belief that they are not sufficiently intelligent to pick up proper grammar). The result of not teaching them effectively suppresses them from ever achieving any level of success in their lives.
The university should fire this racist professor ASAP.

Just returned from Aruba. 7 years ago, because Tourism is the main industry, HS grads were required to speak 6 languages fluently, and were proud of it. Now it’s down to 4. French and German have been dropped. Even Aruba has snowflakes, it seems.
