According to the government’s thinking, not only will it give Muslim migrants work, the hope is that automotive companies like Volvo will use the camels in their advertisements in Sweden. Marketing genius, eh? The government thinks that tourists might come to Sweden to “pet the camels” and that there “will be fashion shows.” “Camel products will be sold.” I kid you not. And selling of camel milk which “is said to help autism,” which is completely untrue. Camel milk does not cure autism.

The Swedes are about to get a lesson in cultural diversity they aren't expecting.

LITTLE KNOWN FACTS:

Somalis and other muslims traditionally wash in camel urine and drink camel urine.

Speaking of muslims washing with urine and drinking urine here is a little know fact:

Have you heard about MERS - aka Middle East Respiratory Syndrome?
Somehow MERS crossed from animals, most likely camels, to humans.

Somehow.....
Perhaps because some muslims actually drink camel urine?
They also wash their hair in it.

Didn't know camels were ok with snow. The article is correct, there's potential for marketing camel milk and ice cream, and it makes good baby formula. I wonder if these products are currently in short supply in Sweden, or if Swedes just have a taste for camel. Or perhaps the idea wasn't thought through. Speaking only for myself, if I wanted to see a camel I'd go to a local zoo, not Sweden. We tried the camel thing in the US in the late 19th century, nasty animals we stayed with horses. Sweden might want to consider reindeer milk.

As a retired glazier, I laughed at the recent attempts by the rioters to break through the riot proof glass using the steel barriers. That stuff is tough and thereby frustrating.

I doubt camels will do well in the Swedish climate. They are built to deal with extreme heat, not extreme cold.

Rather than import camels for camel herders, why not retrain these guys to herd reindeer? Duh!

Both animals provide the owner with meat, hides, & milk. I guarantee the camel milkers in Sweden can learn to milk a reindeer in about 5 minutes.

I don’t think a lot of lilly-white Swedes are going around to pick them up and put them in their family’s environmentally friendly stove or fireplace.
