Pence makes surprise visit to vandalized Jewish cemetery

Vice President Pence on Wednesday made a surprise visit to a historic Jewish cemetery near St. Louis to condemn the recent vandalism that took place there.

“From the heart, there is no place in America for hatred or acts of prejudice or violence or anti-Semitism,” he said.

Pence called Missouri’s response to the incident “inspiring" while standing next to Eric Greitens (R), the state’s first Jewish governor.

I'm offering an opinion on a private forum, not broadcasting a speculative smear over the public airwaves.

The media has been trying to tie Trump and his supporters to anti-semetism, and this story has become associated with that smear.

This vandalism in UCity has no other signs of a hate crime such as graffiti or other anti-religious markings. The absence of that evidence is evidence of something else.

I’m making no claim either way, but if I were I’d have over 100 signs to your zero.

I just read an article that stated that many bomb threats were made on that day to Jespwish organizations across the nation.

We honestly can’t rule out the possibility this was exactly what it looked like, anti Semitic destruction.

There is far more proof that it was, than that it wasn’t based on the act itself.

That cemetery is located in what would be considered a black part of town. There are other cemeteries and neighborhoods that are far more prominent for their Jewish population, Olivette, for example.

If the vandalism had happened in a more commonly known Jewish community, rather than the Hood, I might have formed a different opinion.

There is a concept with police investigated murders. Wounds can reveal what type of murder it was. A wound or two might be in defense. It could be simple homicide.

When you get into multiple stab wound and specific areas of damage you can assume anger and possible payback, or a connection to something unrelated to the victim.

A group of young men our to impress their peers may knock over a few headstones on a lark. When you have over 100 headstones knocked over, there’s a likelihood of something altogether different going on.

It expresses anger, hatred, or a clear message to be sent.

Cemeteries have been vandalized for ages with no more motivation than pure meanness. They are easy targets for people with malicious intent. Not to mention, one might get a bit of a thrill toppling a heavy object.

Trump has had to deal with these smears from the media, and I think we need to point out other possibilities.

Until the people who did it are caught and explain themselves, or make some other statement regarding their motive, we really have no idea why they did it.

It might have even been a group trying to pull a false flag to smear Trump.

And,yes, you could be right, that it is anti-semitism. But having lived here for thirty years, I have not observed much of that. For me, something just doesn't add up. The timing, location, and act itself seems fishy.

I did a Google Search and found at least one cemetery with 150 headstones overturned, not Jewish.

Predominantly, I found Jewish headstone reports, but I didn’t go beyond several pages.

Not really. UCity is a diverse neighborhood, and has been for a very long time. Delmar Ave. has long been known as the unofficial dividing line between the black Northside and the White southside. And Delmar runs right through the middle of town. It’s known as a liberal community, and home of Washington University. The Muslim areas are mostly in South city.
