The Cartels Next Door: Cartels’ roots run deep in NM
Albuquerque Journal ^ | February 16, 2017 | By Mike Gallagher

Posted on 02/22/2017 12:37:48 PM PST by Brad from Tennessee

Mexico’s drug cartels earn billions of dollars in profits as they funnel heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana into drug-hungry countries, including the United States. Crime, death and ruined lives flow right along with those drugs to places as varied as New York City, West Virginia coal country, Albuquerque, Española and western Europe. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the cartels rival international corporations in size and reach. The drugs they peddle are cheaper and more plentiful than ever before, claiming thousands of victims every year. The Albuquerque Journal today begins a six-part investigative report on a criminal enterprise wreaking havoc across the country.

You don’t have to look south across the border to see the Mexican drug cartels in operation. They are operating right next door.

Heroin rings and methamphetamine dealers with direct connections to international drug traffickers based in Mexico have operated out of stash houses in Albuquerque’s Northeast Heights, horse ranches in Valencia County, communities on the Navajo Nation and small towns a stone’s throw from the Mexican border. . .

Albuquerque Journal has a six-part series about New Mexico as a cartel transshipment point as well as a drug market. Three other installments can be found at the bottom of the page at link. Two other installments are coming if the Journal building isn't flattened by a bomb first.

I’ll know there is actually a war on drugs when the banks that knowingly serve the cartels are actually seized forfeited. You know, like my motorboat and house would be.

This is mostly outdated.

Mexico imports pot and cash from the US in exchange for hard drugs.

It’s amazing that this newspaper is actually publishing all the violence and crime committed here by the Mexican cartels and illegals here.

That would be quite a reversal...

Those aren’t Cartel Members, they are DEA and CIA or some other US Government Employees.

We have been playing both sides of this war since Nixon started it. You all let me know when BANKERS are Prosecuted and their BANK and ASSETS ARE SEIZED. Until then, you can bet your LAST NICKEL they are working directly with the US Government.

“Until then, you can bet your LAST NICKEL they are working directly with the US Government.”

After all, the “shadow” (can’t say “black”) groups within certain Government Agencies, tasked with keeping things on track towards a Global One World Order, need a reliable and relatively untraceable source of revenue that does not dry up depending upon which branch of the Uniparty is currently in power.

They’re definitely living here (or at least their kids and mistresses) in El Paso.

Is that where you are?

Didn’t bullets fly, across the border, and hit a few buildings a few years back?

I love that this is where The Trump Wall will start construction (one of three places, IIRC).

Not sure, I’ve only been here for about 18 months or so. All I’ve seen is how little crime there is (b/c of the aforementioned cartel “loved ones” who live here) and how bad the drivers are.

Oh yeah, it absolutely is very low. The question is is it because of our superior law enforcement officials or because the cartels have agreed to allow it to be that way? I think I know...

I agree....the drug trade would not exist if the govt didn't go along...maybe not openly or as a policy...but its allowed....

we little rabble out here are just a means to an end....enriching a smaller and smaller number of earthlings to the detriment of everyone else...

so it doesn't matter if we're drugged, drunk, sick, jobless, hopeless,God less, etc....
