If they didn’t then the left can quit blaming the whites on Columbus Day.

I grew up with yearly visits from white, Rhodesian farmers that were close friends of my father. They fled and years later when we were discussing the decline of Zimbabwe, he told me this joke. “Do you know what we used to light our homes with before we had candles? Light bulbs!”

“Well, LOL.....white America did pretty much build America”

Negros think they had a large part in building America based on their free manual labor. By that standard America was built by horses, oxen and working dogs.

If liberal blacks ran America, we’d all be wearing loinclothes and chucking spears at zebras in hope of catching dinner.

> "The bible knew of sanctioned slavery arrangements, but at worst...His or her children [the children of captives of war or voluntarily pledged slaves] never were enslaved."

It would be nice if that were true, but that's not what Exodus 21 says. Not just the children of captive slaves but the children of Hebrew slaves too could be born into slavery. Note verse 4. The Hebrew laws about slavery may have been relatively merciful in the context of the time, but in the context of modern times they still seem cruel:

2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself: if he were married, then his wife shall go out with him.
4 If his master have given him a wife, and she have born him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.
5 And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free:
6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

I bow to the scriptures here.

That said, the things that the Egyptians did to the Hebrews would have been unconscionable.

There is a lot in “Love thy neighbor as thyself” which we sometimes give short shrift to today, because it’s so sweeping and we want a simple enumeration... because we don’t want the Spirit to teach it, but our intellect.

Anyhow, a modern Calvinball loosely based on the Old Testment is asking to get smited by the Lord if it ignores, or even worse, gainsays, the 1st and 2nd Commandments in the process.

Along with “Love thy neighbor as thyself”, I think it was ultimately the effects of “Do unto others as you would have them do to you” that helped bring about an end to slavery in Christian countries and wherever that principle is accepted.

It is happening in America’s inner cities, and creeping out into the suburbs as they are abandoned to imported Third Worlders. When the government mentions “crumbling infrastructure”, you have to separate those projects that serve viable, productive populations (who can contribute to the upkeep) and those in areas where a W-2 hasn’t been issued in half a century. No reason to address the latter (or provide police protection, schools, etc. - they won’t pay for them anyway).

Whites at least supervised, but it’s ironic that they put words in Trump’s mouth to “back up” their false statements.

That knocked the technicalities out of it altogether, or should have.

We are at an interesting juncture with our modern “liberal”/conservative divide. I use the scare quotes because the referred people are not liberal at all, but illiberal. They say they want giving but they never do it themselves — they just want the other guy to be hammered to do it.

Donald Trump is trying to recapture the spirit of the old liberal. The one who put his own skin in the game and inspired others to do so, too.

Gospel belief came with white people, but the situation was bruised. Race based chattel slavery was a fly in the ointment, one whose stink has wafted down the years to us today. Racial envies and jealousies caused America to be asking the wrong questions. Discovering that we should be children of God (not just creatures but children) which means in turn accepting divine redemption, is what America needs. Forget race. There is only one color of saved soul. Red with Jesus’ blood.

Before the Brits showed up in Zimbabwe - things were very bad having nothing to do with racism, rather how the locals ruled themselves.

They picked a new king once a year who was permitted to do whatever he wanted literally. Have as many wives, concubines, other men’s wives as he wanted, settle old scores in whatever fashion or method and so on. After the end of the year, there was a big celebration and feast, at the end of which the king was slain, and a new king chosen.

Everything was just awful for most people. But now back to Mugabe things are returning to the normal state of abject misery - any racism is of their own making.

Who’d want to be a king there unless they were crazy?

Well anyhow once whites DID show up, then the issue of racism was ripe to show up too. Hey, we’re the Crazy Blacks and We Rule even though the end will be our death!

Gospel is really the only thing that could fix this.

And I do think of gospel here. The King did die, but again the King didn’t remain dead. I’m sure these people would be a lot happier with that kind of king. These people DO understand the need for sacrifice, which gives the gospel a leg up already. Atheists are harder to approach.
