My guess is that she ran out of money and wants a second trip to the well.
I’ve seen advice that states if you win one of the big jackpots, wait to cash your ticket until you have already completed a legal name change (you usually have some time frame to redeem the ticket, such as 30 days). Then, under your new name, redeem your ticket. Once you have the money, change your name back.
For someone with the money, just buying a reasonably priced home for cash is one of the best investments going.
Instead of paying $10K to $12K or more every year in rent you put most of that in your pocket.
That makes it like tax free income as compared to making the same amount as taxable income from most investments.

Great experiences. Met a lot of fantastic people, saw things that I'll likely never see again.
But I'm dubious if she travelled the same way. Big difference between 5-star hotels on a 4-star tour, and the Mexican equivalent of "Motel 6" in some Latin backwater.

The "Motel 6" was more fun. Hung out evenings with the guys on the job in some local bar. Met interesting people, ate a bunch of questionable food that still tasted delicious, prob best off not knowing what it was. I'm sure that the bartender robbed me blind - I was on an expense account and didn't particularly care. Bought round after round at $1/beer.
Great people there. All the young and pretty girls wanted to talk to me to practice their English. I tolerated it, just barely. :-)
