UK and most other countries do not tax government-run lotteries.

Don’t know how old the story is, but she would obviously be broke now.

Cars and property in the UK would be quite a bit pricier in the UK than here.

$1.25 mil ain’t that much, even without taxes, if the possessor isn’t disciplined.

interesting that they don’t tax lottery winnings. I thought socialists never saw a pile of money they didn’t want to tax.

But either way, like you said. It’s all gone, if she is spending like that.

"Then, under your new name, redeem your ticket. "

I don't get it - HOW can you redeem your ticket with a different name??

Oh, never mind - You don’t buy a ticket under your name, you buy it under a number. DUH! Wasn’t thinking.

It’d be a burden but I’ll take it off her hands.

Money can’t buy happiness but it sure can make the down payment.

Camelot (the National Lottery operator in the UK) pays 12% tax on receipts. 50% goes to the prize fund, 28% to designated charitable causes.

Bill Gates sure looks like he’s depressed and suffering from all his wealth.
