Athens's half a million Muslims are set to get their first official mosque in more than a century.
The city has not had a formal mosque since it drove out occupying Ottomans in 1833, and Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Amanantidis told parliament last year that it was the only European capital "to be deprived of such a religious space".

I would consider Athens to be fortunate, and not deprived, at not having a mosque.

Mosques are not religous spaces. Mosques are military training and indoctrination centers for jihad and worse.

Of all the Europeans the Greeks have the most recent memories of what Islam is really all about. They were subjugated by them until 1833.

I would have swapped the Athens mosque for the Hagia Sophia.
I wonder whether the final clash between West and Islam is coming soon . . . and whether freedom will win. The outcome is in no way certain.
