“But the real goal will have been met, which was to get the mayor his accolades.”

And to make boat loads of money for a chosen few.

Landscaping and lawns will require watering and water is at a premium unless they finally break down and start building desalinization plants.

Build lots and lots of high speed rail. That solves everything.

Make politicians keep their mouths shut. That would eliminate an incredible amount of hot air emission.

Here are the "scientists". They attach the mobile thermometer sensor to the roof of their car and drive through L.A. neighborhoods searching for pockets of heat. Please caption and comment

I've got an idea! How about you get a fleet of tanker planes and spray aluminum silicate all over LA until you need a flashlight to mow your lawn?

Heck, I know a way to take those 100-degree days down to the high 30’s. Switch to Celsius.

The temp difference was within the margin of error.

I promise you the scientists will come up with a solution to this non-problem and it will require more taxes and regulations. And if doesn’t work, even more taxes and regulations.

"Professor where is the guage on this $12,000 mobile temperature sensor?" "Oh thats just rolled up posterboard with some wire hanging down for show. We just make up the data"

I imagine there are some general solutions that will be very effective, if expensive, like thermally reflective surfaces everywhere. Trees and green spaces would work well except this is LA, in California, where water is a premium because little fish dictate that they can’t build and fill reservoirs.

They guys driving around in their car with a thermometer on top are probably just trying to keep the money rolling in by saying they need to collect years and years of data for a complicated block-by-block model. The regulators are of course salivating over that solution because it will be so complicated no one will understand it and know what they are supposed to do without the regulator dictating to them. In the end the biggest losers will be the residents and businesses that have to pay for crazy expensive heat abatements but the foolish ones will feel proud that their city government is “doing something.”

I really dont see the point in fans...couldnt we just move the whole city 1/4 mile off shore? We could towstrap it to empty chinese container ships. Prolly not, then California would tip over.

Just put an air tight lid over the city to shade it.
