Why are we still there anyways?
Nothing a half million more guys won't cure, right?
Concurring bump...both were Clinton supporters, both took extended leaves of absence from FR in the months before the election, both joined anti-freeper sites.
Thanks for pointing out that both were at anti-freeper sites, I didn't know that.
Won’t need ‘em if the Kaaba is destroyed.
Besides, it was tongue in cheek.
Interesting blast from several years ago
I wonder if the US has done any drug lab raids?
A lot of us are wondering the same thing.
Point to you.
The general said we can eventually leave Afghanistan a stable and secure country. I think he’s lying.
I'm no fan of Russia, but I am a little suspicious of this whole thing for a few reasons:
This guy was Obama's pick for running the show in Afghanistan. McCain is parading this guy around and we all know McCain wants a war with Russia.
I also find it hard to believe Russia has any love for the Taliban, considering their distaste for Muslims (especially radical Muslims) and their bloody history fighting against the Taliban.
I'll defer judgement on this stuff until we can find out a little more about what's really going on... that may take some time as Trump's only been in office 3 weeks.
Beats me.
Thanks. Those are excellent points you made.
Well, duh? It’s a turf war. They both want control and share the same mission.
I would be really surprised to find that we have except for small ones in a larger city. IOW, the little ones not run by someone the US might find useful.
General Nicholson is alright and I'd defer to the judgments of Sen. Tom Cotton and Sen. Joni Ernst (both Afghan veterans) on this account.
After fifteen years of war Afghanistan remains a serious problem, and the United States has tremendous sunken cost in the region.
McCain and his sycophants would like to portray Russia as a bad actor in Afghanistan, but as was pointed out up thread it was the current Afghan government that reached out to Russia for help back in 2015.
It would seem the only way out of this morass is for there to be a national reconciliation and without the Taliban at the negotiating table that doesn't seem likely.
