Hundreds of jeering, shouting, angry voters, jam-packed in a high school auditorium, lashed GOP Rep. Jason Chaffetz at his town hall meeting in the heart of red-state Utah.
Chaffetz was frequently drowned out by boos at Brighton High School, in a Salt Lake City suburb, over the course of Thursday nights meeting, which he cut short. He was booed when he walked on stage, and he was often booed when he mentioned the name Trump.
The House Oversight Committee chairman was challenged on Donald Trumps threat to eliminate Obamacare, his vow to slash support for womens health by cutting Planned Parenthood funds, a push to sell public lands and the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as education secretary. At one point, Chaffetz promised the voters that they would be happy with the bill to abolish the Department of Education. The crowd was not amused.
Thousands of others who were not allowed in the auditorium because of police concerns about crowd control remained outside brandishing protest signs and chanting, Chaffetz is a coward! KOMO-TV reported, and Do your job! and Your last term!
One young girl asked Chaffetz what he was was going to do to protect the environment. Do you believe in science? Because I do, she said to loud cheers. I dont pretend to have all the answers, he responded. There are good people on both sides of the aisle, he added to resounding boos.
Where do you draw a line in the sand? asked one woman in the audience regarding Trumps potential conflicts of interest.
Everyone has to comply with the law, Chaffetz responded. Youre really not going to like this part, again to boos. The president, under the law, is exempt from the conflict-of-interest laws.

Video at link including video from outside. They are chanting one of their standard leftist protest chants. It's trending on Twitter with leftists patting themselves on the back thinking they will take over Chaffetz seat. This was obviously coordinated. Some liberal groups got this in motion. I looked at the election results, and Chaffetz beat the Democrat and garnered 73% of the vote. That means his district has got to be pretty conservative. I wonder if the people who showed up today at the town hall were even all from his district. Of course this makes it look like the majority of the people in his district are angry, but the truth of the matter is, I doubt any Republicans showed up because there just isn't a lot of concerns right now considering we have all three branches.
Now I don't believe we should completely write these protests off. It would be a fool's errand. The left is trying to use the tea party strategy, and they are highly motivated. That means we can't get complacent.
Just pretend they’re the Tea Party: call them racists, laugh and ignore them.
The DemocRAT infestation won’t go away with one election victory. It will take decades of perseverance and activism.
We need to be scouting our next set of Reagans and Trumps to fill the House, Judiciary, and locales.
The rent-a-mob in action. This is totally astroturf.
They have said this is what they would do. Forget doing any more townhalls - don’t give them a propaganda platform.
Or if you do make sure there’s going to be a lot more supporters than the paid mob.
How did Trump keep all the paid commies out of his rallies?
Astroturf
Rent a mob.
exactly what these townhalls are now; propaganda platforms for the marginalized loonies. we’re supposed to believe people of UTAH are outraged at Trump? LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Yep, traveling roadshow. Moved from the Sacramento area up I-80 to Utah:

Probably, but we are going to have to start bringing our own mobs and fight back.
I’m guessing that pretty much none of them voted for Trump or Chaffetz in the first place so sorry not sorry.
Yes! 100%. People who are savoring President Trump’s win after win after win have their heads in the sand. Andrew Breitbart said politics is downstream from culture, and the culture is being mobilized against Trump personally and everything he — and we — stand for like never before.
This is ugly already (see Berkeley, and see Judge Robart and the 9th Circuit, and see Nordstrom’s, etc.) and it will get much worse.
The left is trying to recreate the teaparty with paid protesters.
Silver tongues like Bill Clinton and Barak are once-in-a-century gifts. To get them so close together doesn’t mean the next one is around. They are both likable. Can you say the same thing about Pocahauntas? Those out front are as likable as Hillary and Gore. Don’t forget John Kerry-who served in Viet Nam.
So let’s continue to beat the drum. And obviously, we’re not the only ones aware of the necessity.
Two points.
1. Where are the conservative to provide him cover. Why did none show up.
2. The libs are now going after GOP members, seeing them as the way to bring down Trump.
Point one puts point two in check.
Maybe our side is NOT there because WE are sick to death of these ASSHATS not backing POTUS TRUMP!!! Our side feels like we are wasting our breath talking to these BASTARDS!!! They have all three houses of government in 100 years and all we STILL get are EXCUSES!!! Trump IS out there on his own these BASTARDS have done NOTHING to back him up!!
Hard to pretend they’re Tea Party the way the scream, carry on and destroy property.
Tea Partiers sat in lawn chairs, waved the flag and cleaned up after ourselves.
The Ctrl-Left is going to pay welfare bums to pack town halls this year. Real Americans have to get there earlier.
MY FRIENDS: WE are going to have to go after them on Facebook/Twitter. Don’t be mean and nasty like they are. Just INFORM and make the 20% or so undecideds think TWICE (or laugh). Do not stand on the sidelines!
