The National Weather Service reported that a radar-confirmed tornado has been reported in New Orleans East.

For those wondering how this is possible..."West Bank" refers to the land west of the Mississippi River. Given the wandering curvature of the river, it is indeed possible for part of the East Bank to be further west than the West Bank, and vice versa.
Dunno. They are saying New Orleans East not the West Bank. I did see a radar image that shows the bad weather (red) in NO East with West Bank not appearing to have much going on. But I am not there. Also a tornado was near Donaldsonville and Killian, Louisiana.
Over on Facebook the tards are wishing death and destruction on these common people because the state went for Trump. Those tards are truly living up to their nickname.
“Donald Trump doesn’t care about black people.”
People like that make me sick.
It was not on West bank. It was New Orleans East headed toward Slidell. I believe it was by Chef Hwy and Crowder. Also heard one touched down on Jefferson Hwy near the Huey P Long bridge.
No
That’s tomorrow’s MSM headline, maybe even this afternoon’s.
Stay safe.. don’t know if it’s still spawning tornadoes or not at this point, but looks brutal on the radar
“The tornado is on the West Bank and the West Bank is East of New Orleans.”
Nope, not interchangeable. In opposite directions, above and below New Orleans metro.
The tornado is in “New Orleans East” which is above downtown NO and lies past Elysian Fields and Gentilly, but before you reach Slidell on the I-10. The area is called “New Orleans East” by the locals.
“The Westbank” is called “The Westbank” by the locals, and it lies across the Mississippi River Bridge / Crescent City Connection along Highway 90, AKA the Westbank Expressway.
The Westbank includes the communities of Algiers, Terrytown, Gretna, Harvey, Marrero, and Westwego.
However, due to the crescent-shaped curvature of the Mississippi River, you are correct that you do indeed drive Eastward —briefly— across the bridge in order to arrive on the Westbank.
WWL was reporting “Take Cover! Tornado Warning including New Orleans LA, Marrero LA, Tarrytown LA”
Those communities are all on the Westbank and east or in the case of Marrero, south of the the city.
As for me, I’m from Uptown which is south of downtown.
Stick it up your ass! I was born in New Orleans and have family there. What an ignorant jerk you are.
And the low rent people are only part of the reason.
And yet I assume, and pray, your family is safe and unaffected. Didn’t mean to imply otherwise.
Residential, commercial, light industrial. Some fishing camps also hit, I believe. About a half dozen injured, some seriously. No deaths. Multiple twisters around here today.
The OP link is to nola.com and says a tornado had hit (past tense) New Orleans East.
You are now referencing WWL, which said the warning (before it hit) was directed at New Orleans (no mention of New Orleans East) “including” Marrero and Terrytown. So evidently the warning was directed at the entire NO metro area and surrounding towns.
All of which is irrelevant to what you originally said.
“New Orleans East” is NOT “the Westbank,” as you originally said.
They are two completely different areas of the NO metro area.
