The National Weather Service reported that a radar-confirmed tornado has been reported in New Orleans East.

My girlfriend and I flew back to the Midwest from NOLA last night. We were annoyed at all the flight delays, poor communication, etc., but we got back safely.
We were lucky. Armstrong airport is probably a mess with cancelled flights.

The tornado is on the West Bank and the West Bank is East of New Orleans.

While parts of the West Bank do lie east of downtown New Orleans, the tornado did NOT strike the West Bank. It hit in the Crowder/Downman Road area along Chef Menteur Hwy in the part of town known as New Orleans East.
My wife is on the West Bank right now, and there’s definitely no tornado there!
