“With slight shades of difference,” wrote George Washington in 1796, Americans “have the same religion, manners, habits and political principles.

That is no longer true."

Are you really sure about that? Have my doubts about that.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you. I think there is something about the Web, and Social Media in particular, that makes people crazy.

Good news!

The LEFT IS DYING. What we are seeing is its last gasps.

You forget that Americans have purchased guns in record numbers the past 8 years. Americans are ARMED TO THE TEETH.

Dumb article that ignores the elephant in the room, mass immigration that has changed the demographics of the country forever. We have tribal politics.

Since 1990 we have brought in 35 million legal permanent immigrants, 87% of whom are minorities as defined by the USG. By 2043 non-Hispanic whites will be 50% of the population down from 89% in 1970.

The craziness is latent. The web allows it to be exposed

The media is astroturfing these riots as grassroots uprisings all around the country. They may turn out to be an organized few who travel around. I find it hard to believe that locals would destroy the shops and banks that they themselves use.

I think the web also serves as an Echo Chamber for craziness. Posting something that goes viral on YouTube only stimulates it. Twitter pokes it. The fact that you can create an Electronic Information Bubble, screening out dissenting opinions, does not help either.

I cannot disagree with anything you said.
Besides, there are too many full tummies.

An empty stomach has a way of giving a man backbone.

"Take away the funding and things may settle down."

You mean like George Soro's?

Not to derail this thread, but can you imagine how different the Milo-Bizerkly riot would have been if Milo would get The Bikers For Trump to be his secondary ( outside the meeting buildings he uses ) security?

Yet purchases of guns went through the roof last couple of years. Go figure.

Good, although extreme analysis. The concept of no dialogue with the left is wrong. Many leftists have been converted by reason and experience. Others have been converted by the love of Jesus. This is my remaining hope.

For all of those virtue signalers who want any and all “refugees”, why are you not working to fix the ‘Rat urban utopias and their dysfunctional residents? There is no way these signalers are going to fix the refugees brought here.

Our poorest are the most likely to be obese. I think that is something that has never happened before in human history. Hard to imagine sustained violent unrest or civil war while that is the case. I guess there could be a first time.

Also, we haven’t had even 65% eligible voter turnout since 1908, way less for local and state elections. 2016 had less eligible voter turnout than in 2008 and 2012. Seems like more folks would try deigning to vote before trying sustained hardship through some type of violent unrest.

I think social media definitely changes the way people think. I’m not sure we were meant to know what friends, family and neighbors think about any given subject instantly and in discrete little blurbs, much less some stranger on the other side of the planet.

I agree with the article. This country is irretrievably divided between left and right, and only a physical demarcation, starting with the secession of the coastal part of California, will help to mitigate that condition. Scenes of Americans being attacked in places like Berkeley give evidence to the fact that trying to maintain a 50-state entity in its present form is an impossible task.

Amen brother, Amen. Now if Trump only had Congress critters, appointees, and state officials with backbone to take the fight farther to the right then thought possible it would set him up to be a mediator, still gaining the battle ground.

Alas few of such warriors are to be found.
