Trump: ObamaCare plan could take until next year
The Hill ^ | 02/05/17 | PETER SULLIVAN

President Trump said Sunday that it could take “sometime into next year” until his ObamaCare replacement plan is ready, a slower timetable than he and other Republicans have put forward in the past.

Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly asked Trump in an interview before the Super Bowl if Americans can “expect a new healthcare plan rolled out by the Trump Administration this year.”

“Yes, in the process and maybe it’ll take till sometime into next year but we’re certainly going to be in the process,” Trump replied. “You have to remember Obamacare doesn’t work so we are putting in a wonderful plan,” he added.

“It statutorily takes a while to get. We’re going to be putting it in fairly soon, I think that yes I would like to say by the end of the year at least the rudiments but we should have something within the year and the following year.”

In contrast, last month, Trump said he would be putting forward a plan shortly after his nominee for Health and Human Services Secretary, Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), is approved by the Senate, a far faster timetable.

He has to get it right. Better to get it right than do it quickly and for it to be a cluster.

What’s wrong with status quo ante? 85% of the American people were completely satisfied with their health care before Obamacare. That’s pretty good. Just repeal it and forget it.

I can understand that, it is very complicated to unwind Obamacare.

I do not understand why he has not stopped DACA yet.
Another 2400 illegal aliens have been given work permits since he became President.

Well I have supported Trump since before he even announced his candidacy.

I have supported him strongly.

I know a lot of people here at this website say “dump Obamacare”.

But we had not fixed healthcare previously. That is why Obamacare came to be, because we had done NOTHING about the millions of Americans our healthcare system had left out, and did not allow those people to have covered care.

Our healthcare system has become insanely priced. Everyone needs coverage. Everyone.

I believe Obamacare needs to be replaced. I strongly believe that. We cannot simply discard it, because what we had before was completely unacceptable.

We need to cover the people, who Obamacare covered.

Sure improve the system. But cover everyone.

Nope.

The price of healthcare is over the top.

Out of sight. Everyone needs coverage. Everyone.

Leaving 15% uncovered, is insane.

Seem to remember he has begun the process of eliminating the ‘mandate’ and the penalty clause. Any here remember the details? Lyin’ Ryan balking at that as well? They do need to show fantastic details in their replacement - Chuckie would be pointing fingers till the day he died if the pubbies screwed up one iota on this.

ANY plan is a cluster because THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DOING IT.

I knew this would happen. They had nothing ready in January, said it would be ready on Jan 27, after that passed they said March. Now it’s next year.

I hate the Republican party. Thoroughly.

That’s “too complicated”. Republicans give 50 reasons a second why they can NEVER oppose the Democrat agenda.

> But we had not fixed healthcare previously

BS. What hasn’t been “fixed” is government programs. Government IS the problem.

Don’t let this happen, President Trump. People, I guess we’re going to have to call these Democrats-in-GOP-clothing we call Representatives, and light a fire under them. This is what WE want. WE won. WE want it done NOW.

Leaving 15% uncovered, is insane.

Stop repeating statist lies! Before ObamaCare, ANYONE could go to the emergency room and be treated. ANYONE. They weren't "uncovered". And if the idiot Congress would pass a law to allow medical insurance to be sold across state lines--like other insurance-- prices would drop. IMMEDIATELY.

I’m with you.

Let’s get government out of healthcare.

Completely. All laws restricting care to a small and independently wealthy group of “physicians” included.

All laws saying only some sort of care are legal, repealed.

Are you ready for real freedom, in healthcare?

I am, but our healthcare industry, sure is not. They are an insular, self-perpetuating group who only restricts competition. Don’t get me wrong, healthcare providers are good people, but our healthcare system is a wealth generating industry, big time.

Until the government is OUT of healthcare however, because I don’t think it ever will be, then there needs to be coverage for every single American.

Everyone.

They need to pay full price.

Our healthcare system is insanely priced.

Nope. We need coverage for every single person.

Every one.

Look we can debate this, or you can accuse me of being a democrat.

I am not.

I have been on FR since 2005, I supported Palin strongly. I supported Trump since before he even announced.

I have contributed to this website a number of times.

But our healthcare system needs to cover EVERYONE.

It is too expensive.

Far too expensive.

I did not accuse you of being a democrat. I said that what you’re advocating is Democrat garbage. I say that because it is.
