Minnesota becomes a gateway to Canada for rejected African migrants
Star Tribune ^ | 2/4/17 | Mila Koumpilova

The men pay hundreds of dollars for middle-of-the-night cab rides north to the Canadian border. They wade into the Red River to dodge border agents in summer and trudge through waist-deep snow in winter. On Christmas Eve, two wandered in the wind-swept flatness and lost their fingers to frostbite.

Minnesota has become a key stop for a soaring number of migrants from Somalia and other African countries who sneak into Canada to seek asylum. More than 430 arrived in Winnipeg since April, up from 70 three years ago. Most come by way of Minneapolis, sometimes after grueling treks across Latin America and stints in U.S. immigration detention.

The exodus is now coinciding with new steps by the Trump White House to restrict immigrant and refugee entry — policies expected to spur even more crossings.

“I was used to people coming north into the U.S.,” said Scott Webster, deputy agent in charge at the U.S. Border Patrol’s Pembina, N.D., station and a veteran of the border with Mexico. “Now, they are still going north, but heading out of the U.S.”

Somalis are finding America's political climate increasingly inhospitable and are fleeing north to Prime Minister Trudeau's welcoming arms.

President Trump has a word for this. I believe it was called, "WINNING!"

Minnesota is trying to out-crazy Massachusetts.
Vulgar states/people with nominal relevance other than a display
of godlessness worthy of marginalizing Sodom and Gomorrah.

At least Massachusetts produced patriotic men of character like John Adams and Paul Revere. Minnesota not so much: Al Franken and Jessie Ventura.

maybe we can use the NAFTA highway while it’s still open to mass move illegal immigrants from Mexico and Latin America to Canada.

You paint with a broad brush. Most of Minnesota is quite normal and fairly conservative. Trump lost by about 1% here.

Our problem is our Governor Mark Dayton and the Minneapolis/St. Paul voters. Minneapolis/St. Paul is a Muslim rat hole. Most of the suburbs are conservative.

Like most deep blue states Minnesota politics are dominated by the big city voters. Please don't insult the rest of us.

Modern day Massachusetts gave us the likes of the Kennedys.
Read: The immigration reform act of 1965 signed by LBJ, fathered by Joe Kennedy.

Old Joe Kennedy hated white America.

If Canadians have no trouble with Mexico’s borders, why should they have trouble with America’s borders?!

I totally understand what you’re saying and I mostly agree.
Thing is, your majority act as our minorities.

So that makes it OK to denigrate people like me?

This native Coloradoan understands your pain watching that Denver/Boulder stronghold pretty much dictate the political direction of the entire state.

Well, the Somalian taxi drivers refuse to transport people with liquor purchases and the women wear traditional Muslim attire. You can draw your own conclusions.

I live in Oregon. Same is true here. Portland, Eugene, Salem vote against the rest of the state all the time.

Your situation sounds like that of my state, Maryland. Everyone thinks all of us are progressives because of the Rat cities and the voter fraud that keep giving us Rat lawmakers.

Howie Carr (Live-streaming WRKO-AM afternoons) has a new book out on the Kennedys. "Kennedy Babylon". It's sure to be a hit!

The experience of “out-state” conservatives in blue states is a nice example of what caused the Founding Fathers to implement the electoral college. Without the electoral college a few cities like NY, LA and Chicago could totally dominate politics at a national level. Flyover voters would have no voice.

This is my deepest fear as a long suffering Canuck - that our bleeding heart commie Trudeau will do nothing the coming deluge from the souther US. As soon as there is any real move to deport significant numbers of illegals to Mexico, there will be a massive move to escape north of the border. And the Mexicans only need a passport. Trudeau removed the Visa requirement for Mexicans.
