If youre a liberal these days, you may have trouble keeping up with all of the new actions coming out of the Trump White House which enrage you. If youre a conservative youve probably already lost track of the number of things the liberals are marching, protesting about, condemning and boycotting. On that last point you can now add one more to the list. The evil ownership of Taylor Gourmet, a local chain of hoagie shops around the Beltway, has gone too far and drawn the ire of progressive activists. (For those of you from other parts of the country, a hoagie is just another regional name for a sub sandwich, grinder or whatever you call it in your area.) The specific target of liberal ire is Casey Patten, co-founder of the business.
So what has Patten done to enrage the Left? Did he endorse the travel ban? Pay his female employees less? Offer to feed the workers when they start building the wall? Nope. He was photographed shaking Donald Trumps hand after a ceremony announcing new White House initiatives to boost small businesses. And that was enough to let slip the hounds of protest.
The co-founder of Taylor Gourmet angered some Washingtonians today by meeting with President Trump for a photo-op connected to his executive order cutting regulations for small businesses. Washington Post:
Casey Patten, who co-founded the local chain of hoagie shops in 2008, was photographed shaking hands with the president in the Roosevelt Room of the White House. The meeting was first reported by Popville.com, and quickly led to Twitter calls for a boycott from its patrons, many of whom reside in the District of Columbia, which voted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton. Patten has not yet responded to multiple requests for comment. . .

A natural cleansing soon to occur
I know where I’m eating lunch today :)
You know, I was just thinking, if we all just vanished from America then liberals could embrace the suck that they want so badly. Then they’d all have to protest and boycott themselves.
I do not know this chain. The locations are away from our suburb. I will learn about them and go buy a sandwich.
Mrs jimfree and I have sub sandwich date planned.
When you see the behavior of leotards over petty nonsense like this, you begin to understand where the people willing to carry out Pol Pot type killing fields horrors come from.
These people are nuts!
I used to naively believe that Americans would never behave like that, all the way up to when Bill Clinton was elected president. Here was a man who was a leftist agitator, who actually supported real communism (although he pretended otherwise for his campaign), and yet was elected and reelected. He did not rule as a full-blown communist only because he preferred popularity more than the communist agenda. I don't think people remember that Bill tried to impose the communist agenda during his first few months in the White House--he stopped only when Republicans won the midterms and took away the Democrat majority.
The fact that the Democrat party even put forth someone like Bill Clinton was enough to make me realize that I should *never* vote Democrat again.
Americans voted for Bill Clinton. They voted for Barack Obama. Millions also supported Hillary Clinton. Yes, the egregious horrors that Communists have committed in other countries *can* happen here. And the armies of the left are turning out in droves to prove that.
The Choomah is highah than a kite ...
That’s a good looking sandwich. Waaaaaay beyond Subway or Jersey Mike’s.
Business owners will do well to understand that IF THEY IGNORE these Twitter Activists, they will survive because there are more of us NORMAL people in the world....
I would advise anyone operating a business to make sure their Facebook/Twitter or any other Social Media accounts have comments disabled. Anyone who has a REAL problem WILL take the time to contact you in a more traditional matter.
Bottom line: IGNORE the screeching gulls because when you screw up and feed one, they will swarm you.
Anyone here old enough to remember Eddie Leonard Sandwich Shops in the D.C. area? Hint: he sold his business forty years ago. The first sub sandwich shop chain ever, to hear him tell it.
Anyway, these days “boycott” means more than just shunning a business. Violence and smashed windows are now thrown in.
