Here’s a list with a map.

The official website for the prison in questions says it holds 2,500 inmates, some sentenced to death.

Been there assisting an old lady to visit her nephew. It’s a frightening graybar hotel to even have to visit, let alone be an innate.

Three, I believe; one for each county.

Try working in one.

I did for 6 years.

While not all the inmates were evil, you could feel it like a cloud around the grounds. The others were mentally ill and being treated.

In Georgia, can (or could) get convicted of “Guilty, but, Insane”. They would treat you, but, you still went to prison.

I was at a religious retreat and we had guy attending who has served time in prison for murder. Another guy at the retreat had been a guard at that prison. They never acknowledged each other. Speaking casually to a guard in prison could get you killed.

The guard remembered him because he practiced voodoo.

I live in a county with approximately 170k people. The newspaper posts mug shots...around 30-35 a day, or 12,000 a year. Most are catch and release stuff...but still a very steady stream of people going through the jail.

It really boggles my mind that so many are getting arrested. But after seeing those numbers, nothing surprises me.
