In this article, Larry Pratt (Gun Owners of America-- I am a member) brings this up:

the court went so far as to quote Justice John Marshall Harlan II in Terry for the pre-Heller assertion that "'concealed weapons create an immediate and severe danger to the public.'" Is that what Judge Gorsuch thinks of the 14.5 million law-abiding Americans with concealed carry permits? That they are an immediate and severe danger to the public?

Gorsuch should be asked about it in the confirmation hearings, even though he didn't write the opinion in Rodriguez, but he did join it. And JMH II was about as anti-gun-rights a judge as ever sat on the court, IMHO.

As above, IANAL, just an informed citizen.

“putting out so much action they cannot possibly mobilize against all or isolate any”

Bingo. The “muslim ban” was the opening act leading into the supreme court announcement. They always fall for it.

And also the timing, example supreme Court nomination announcement at 8 PM, prime time, and it will also overshadow pelousi TV appearances at 9pm.

I’m going out on a limb here ;) I predict that there will be people among the Democrats, MSM, and Snowflakes who will oppose the President on this appointment. However I think its vitally important to protect the Senate’s Constitutional power of advice/consent on all such appointments. Trump is not going to be President forever and we got to protect the foundations of our Constitutional Republic as designed by the founders.

Absolutely not. I’m disappointed he was even on Trump’s list!

i have no idea how anyone he picks is going to get through. Republicans are trash and can’t even get a VOTE on cabinet positions having control of the Senate. The Dems are going to try to push a vote on immigration now and if Mitch lets this happen he has effectively proven that he is not at all in control of the Senate or that he is actively acting to undermine the Trump administration

Mitch can’t even get a vote on cabinet positions. Not sure anything the Republicans are doing is working. They basically refuse to back Trump. The only time they find cameras is when they want to disagree with something he’s done.

Everyone will find something wrong with anyone he picks. Pryor has his detractors as does Gorbush and Hardiman. Ingraham apparently said he wouldn’t be in her top 10. So, who knows really. His cabinet picks were good (And they can’t even get votes in the Republican controlled Senate) so that’s all we have to go on really. Based on that, I trust his decision making process.

I wonder if President Trump will deliver this straight, or if he will play with them a little first. I’m hoping it will be straight, with the games coming in other announcements.

Why would President Trump take a lower appeals court Judge and move him to the Supreme Court? Then you would have to vet someone to fill their spot on the Appeals Court. Just Wondering..

One of the most important issues for President Trump to know about his nominee is how the nominee views the phrase “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” in the Fourteenth Amendment.

If he appoints a judge who believes it applies to illegal aliens and foreign birth tourists, then we will never move away from the insane interpretation of birthright citizenship in which both wealthy foreign birth tourists and foreign national illegals come into this country for the purpose of giving birth within the USA and ‘granting’ American citizenship to their children, something never intended by the Constitution.

Imp,

Hardiman.

we should think big. In the next 8 years
Scalia
Ginsburg
Kennedy
Breyer

4 seats. I like it. My pessimism is dissipating.
